Raiders reportedly adopt reduced blackout rule.

    Per PFT:

Report: Raiders adopt lower blackout threshold | ProFootballTalk

The Raiders weren’t blacked out on television for any of their home games last season.

If a report from Paul Gutierrez of CSNBayArea.com is correct, there’s not much chance they’ll be blacked out this year either. Gutierrez reports that the Raiders have decided to take advantage of the new rule allowing teams to lower the blackout threshold to as low as 85 percent of their non-premium tickets. The Raiders have adopted that lower threshold, which cannot be changed during the season.

The move will make it easier for the Raiders to avoid blackouts, but stands to cost them money if they are able to get the same amount of people in the seats as they had last year. They sold out every one of their home games, finishing with an average attendance of 59,242 that was a sharp increase over the two previous seasons. Under the new rule, half of the revenue from every ticket sold after meeting the threshold will go to the visiting team as opposed to 34 cents on each dollar if you keep things at 100 percent.

The Buccaneers are the only other team to take advantage of the new rule for this season. Unlike the Raiders, their games were regularly blacked out last season.

I dont' expect many of those 2 for 1 ticket deals anymore, unless they are having trouble reaching 85%. Good to know i'll be able to watch on tv though, i live more than 90 miles from the coliseum but they still black me out on directv!

With the poor economy in the area the Raiders are atempting (AGAIN) to help out and raise their profile at the same time.

you want a great way to show fans you care about them...let them know its not all JUST about the money..this doesnt concern me at all as i dont live in the blackout area but its still a thumbs up in my book..it makes sense for the teams who consistently sellout their games no to choose this option..however the borderline teams who chose not to do this well lets just say im sure some fans will be very upset if there are any blackouts this season for them

I think this is a great idea. We need to bring long time fans back into the stadium the process has started. This will help bring in new fans. I don't expect the 2 for 1 stuff this season. The team has lowered ticket prices on many seats. Many seats were priced unreasonably for the location. All of Mt Davis and the end sections are all $36 for single game and $260 for season tickets. All 2nd deck end zone were lowered to $51 for the season and $61 for single game (down $10 from the last 7 years and back to 2005 prices).

Agreed. I know the MNF Cowboy game shows on my Dish Guide at 5pm, I am wondering if it will be broadcast since it is an ESPN National Game. I totally agree with the preseason. While we are at it lets cut the price of these exhibition games to 50%.

I agree...it's an excellent idea in a bad economy and shows the commitment to the community at large. Good job front office! I frankly don't see no shame and getting it to as many locals as possible

Before you challenge the Raider Fans to sell out the Colisseum or say the locals don't support the team Please Read Raider187's extremely informative post: http://www.raiderfans.net/forum/oakl...ance-woes.html
