There were times it seemed Murphy was the only Raider on the field who gave a crap. Good luck Louis.
Good chance Murphy was going to be cut anyway, so even if it's a 6th it's better than nothing and we save about $1.2M in cap.
We will more than likely now pick up Benson. Who would you rather have a 5th string WR or a good RB back up for a often unhealthy DMAC?
Even if DMAC is healthy he Benson will give him plenty of breathers. Good move in my book.

So whats the next trade between the Panthers and Raiders? lol
I visited one of the Panthers forums to see what we gave up.
And one of them suggested they trade Jimmy Clausen to us for Terrelle Pryor. They actually gave a good reason for the trade, lol.
In all seriousness. Reggie is letting go of the young guys who have no future here. Bruce Campbell and Murphy were not going to play much if at all.
.....the panthers traded Jeff otah as well... For the same conditional pick as the Murphy deal.... Uhhh we shoulda grabbed otah instead of a draft pick...lol
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
Jets traded conditional 7th-round pick to Panthers for Jeff Otah. Panthers traded conditional 7th-round pick to Oakland for Louis Murphy.
A few bullets:
-Props to Evil Empire for calling this one. We argued, I will eat crow... (To be fair, I argued that he wasn't getting CUT. Trading him is FAR better, but nevertheless... props)
-I still have a hard time believing the Temple kid's hype only because he led a very lackluster career at Temple.
-If it's between Streater and Carrier, I will go with Carrier, simply because of one statement in his pre-draft write up. "The kid re-wrote the NAIA record books with his 2010 and 2011 season. I know it was div III talent, but at least he dominated. Streater had zero games with more than 3 catches as a senior. Didn't even lead Temple as a WR, let alone do anything that resembled "dominate."
-Murphy finds himself in the thinest WR offense in the NFL. a lucky draw for him. They have Steve Smith aaaaand... That's it. (LaFell is not good).
-If you give the nod to Criner as the rookie 4th WR, I certainly hope a vet comes to this team by way of free agency soon... Seeing as though the most senior guy (DHB) may find himself in street clothes for the first 4 games, I don't really love the prospect of looking at Moore (2nd yr), Ford (3rd yr), Criner (Rook) and Streater or Carrier (Rook/UDFA) as Carson's corp... Just sayin.

The Panthers look to be a good trade partner.
Big Mac just made a genius move, I could not be happier with what he has done so far with the Raider's.
Good luck Murphy, but his role was about to diminish drastically or he would have been cut.
Wow another million freed up in cap space!!
And him becoming "unhappy" was probably just a vet seeing he was about to be cut, or see a lot less time on the field. Going to another team gets him back on the field. Now Ford, I hope he is not the bitch I am feeling he is.
Benson and Henderson, please.
A 7th round pick? I cannot believe Raiders took that crap. This is slap to the face, might as well traded him to the Donks! Im sure they could have offered us Teblow before he got traded to Jets
