I really feel bad about the McClain situation

Because let's say he goes to prison after this season and goodell punishes him with some sort of additional suspension, then I am pretty sure that the raiders will just cut him.

There are basicaly two possibilitys:

a) he tears it up and becomes the player we always wanted. then he goes to jail, and we loose the cornerstone of our defense, and have to draft a new replacement.(the vick way)

b) he keeps playing mediocre and we just cut him and draft someone new

either way we have to draft someone new, and I personally think that he will tear it up this year, so replacing him properly will be a hard task


P.S.: If you think that he will not have to go to jail, and goodell will not punish him, please ad some reasons why(cuz why would a jury decide differently?)

Reports are McClain has dropped 40 lbs and it showed in the OTA photos.

So he won't be reporting 30 lbs overweight.

This is McClains last year and last chance in my opinion. This better be his breakout year and have a reborn outlook in life as well or adios. This is a NEW ERA and mediocre play and off the field issues won't be tolerated. I hope he turns his sh!t around and be the player everyone thought he could have been.

All our linebackers are pretty much new to the team, so i would suggest its not a good thing to start this year teaching them our new 4-3 , then change that next year and have them learn the 3-4. Let these linebackers start learning and gelling in the 3-4 now not next year. They may take their lumps they may not this year but in the long run we are better off. I think curry and burris might be pretty damn good in the middle, we'll see about the the outside backers. McKenzie prob will get one more backer before season starts.
BTW, IT SEEMS LIKE MOST OF YOU THINK MCLAIN WILL PLAY THIS ENTIRE SEASON, IS THIS PRETTY MUCH FACT OR ARE YOU GUYS JUST HOPING. I HAVENT KEPT UP ON MCCLAINS TRIAL INFO. I THOUGHT HE COULD POTENTIALLY GO TO JAIL OR SUSPENDED THIS SEASON . WHATS WORD ON THAT.

When looking at DA's history, he has been a predominately 43 coach with 3-3-5 looks sprinkled in. Not sure how many 4 LB looks we are planning to use this year or next as DA doesn't seem to use many 4 LB looks. And with our LB talent, it really makes no sense to put 4 of them on the field at the same time.

Our personnel is built for a 43, that could change but it makes no sense trying to run a 34 this year with all the pieces that don't fit. And again, who knows if the plan is to do a full switch to the 34 next year. I would guess we won't as DA has said time and time again we will be multiple.

As far as McClain's 2012 season, he most likely won't be going to trial until after the season and the league has said it won't hand down discipline until the court's decision. So basically he should play the full season.

Who says McClain gets a big punishment? My understanding is this is his first offense plus the case hasn't been brought in front of a jury. I know Goodell is a hard ass and McClain used poor as judgement. At worst case I think McClain gets 4 games. JMHO.

I agree with this.

Juries tend to dish out lighter sentences and I don't expect to see him do jail time. This might even get plea bargained down during the process given they are only misdemeanors.

I can see a plea deal right before or after the pre-trial.

I doubt he does much jail time for these offenses.

However, Goodells power increases with a plea deal of guilty or nolo contendre.

Hes getting the 4 game suspension either way so he should just accept it and move on.

I don't think the plan is to go to a 3-4 base but we might see some 3-4 packages and a 3-3-5 stack in our nickel.

I also noticed DA likes the Big Nickel and with our safeties, I expect to see it against teams that go to that trendy 2 pass catching TE stuff teams are using.

I love our versatility and I am sure DA does too.

Actually they have said he has lost a little weight and looks faster and more aggressive. We shall see how things shake out.

The only leash is the one my wife has around my neck. It was all an opinion buddy not claiming any of it's just going to happen. In fact I want McClain to be a star not fail. This situation just reminds me of something very similar with a former raiders first round draft pick everyone had high hopes on. I refuse to mention that persons name. Once again this is all solely my opinion. I don't know what the future is going to intel but it's just what I could see possibly happen.
