Out of 13 QB's 2 that are a proven starter in the NFL. Culpepper was done when he came to Oakland. So Collin's could play ok. JC is riding the pine(where he belongs). And Palmer, that we have hope for. Looking at that list it's hard to get mad about what Palmer cost.
Yikes! That is one ugly list. I think Palmer is easily the best of the bunch. Collins - second.
The rest - none should ever start for an NFL team. Not one. Some, I would not trust as water boys.
Walter was weak. Period. Could not read a defense to save his life, nor could he feel pressure coming. Hence, he was a sack waiting to happen. No team could have helped him. He was the definition of deer in headlights. Held on to the ball too long always waiting to figure out the defense while being tackled. Far too slow. Period.
Anyone who actually takes 06 as anything but a wash year is insane! BWAHAHAHAHA Our coaches where out of the league for 47 or so years before Al decided to hirer them back!
It goes Palmer, Cambell, Grads, Collins...everyone was hot garbage on the field...not by their own fault...just sayin.
But we can assume he was trying as hard as he could to be a third stringer. After that, no one else wanted him, even for a third stringer.
Ruined is what happens to virgins. A healthy QB who isn't good just doesn't get hired.
I hope Andrew is doing well where ever he is. He got his degree in something from ASU. I think he simply couldn't keep up with the speed increase between the NFL and college, despite his having "one of the strongest arms in the country" and having "bested Jake Plummer's ASU career passing marks of 8,827 yards and 65 touchdowns by 1,790 yards and 20 TDs". (From his ASU bio, which I am sure was not missed by Davis and his cadre of draft experts)
We will have to agree to disagree on Walter. He was asked to take 5-7 step drops (yes the bed and breakfast offense had him consistently dropping back 7 steps) with one of the worst O lines in NFL history (I am convinced of that). That means the WRs were asked to run longer routes that took time to run and thus Walter was forced to hold the ball. He certainly wasn't a mobile guy so his choices were to throw it away or hold on and hope someone got open before the pass rush got there. Well if your always having to throw it away you start wanting to make a play so you hold on a little longer hoping someone comes open and that leads to a sack quite often. I don't buy for a second that Walter couldn't have been decent had he never been through what JE went through here.
Simple fact is most of these stiffs playing QB should have never been given the opportunity.
"You can't Appoint, Hire, or Declare Leadership" ~ Sonny Barger
"Al Davis thought all owners were dilettantes with a new toy. He said to me many times through the years that owners are often the problem with their franchises, that too many of them think they can run things when they cannot, and the teams that succeed are the ones where the owner hires the best people he can and turns the game over to them."
