Darren McFadden leads league in yards per route run among running backs

READ MORE >> Darren McFadden leads league in yards per route run among running backs - Silver And Black Pride

Raiders are switching to the West Coast Offense which means the style of offense that had Benson running decoy routes will not happen in Oakland. All running backs will be relief valves on bootlegs, taking screen passes, and running the play action which will keep the Raiders' backs YPRR as high as it had been with Jason Campbell. Except with Palmer, there will more of a threat of a long pass.

What this study shows is the dependability of the running backs to get open, catch the ball, and make something happen with it once they secure it. When McFadden goes out for pass, he has the skills of a wide receiver while typically being covered by a linebacker. That is someone who you want to get the ball in that instance.

Most of the other running backs mentioned have far more total receiving yards. But if McFadden can stay healthy (big if), he can have those kinds of numbers as well.

If healthy I think McFadden is the best back in the league, and even without homer goggles he is top 3. If he had stayed healthy last year, he would've proven it...through 6 games last year he led the league in total yards, receiving yards and runs over 20 yards. He was also top 3 in rushing yards and TDs if I remember.

Dmac was in the running for MVP until he got hurt. It's a shame that he hasn't had a full season to show case his skills. If he can be healthy a full season with Palmer and the O line coming together, I can see him get close to 2000 or over.

Honestly, saying McFadden is the best back in the league while healthy is not homer at all. Peterson is the better runner, but McFadden is a superior blocker and receiver. MJD has a case as well, but McFadden is the MUCH bigger threat as a receiver because of his size. DMC could be a legit receiver in the league.

Let's just pray he can be healthy. If Palmer can cut down on interceptions and we can have a full year of McFadden, our offense can easily be top 5. Just hoping that the switch to an updated defensive scheme can keep our defense at least middle of the pack. Houston and Shaughnessy have extreme potential. Can't wait to see what they do.

McFadden's yprr average just edged out Darren Sproles who had 2.07 yards per route run. McFadden's former Raider teammate, Michael Bush was also among the best with a 1.54 yprr which was good for 11th on the list.

The ironic thing here is, they also have the list of the worst yards per route run and the guy the Raiders reportedly have pegged to replace Bush in the lineup, Cedric Benson tops that list. He has the worst yards per route run route run average at .61. Other notable running backs on the list of the worst include Michael Turner (.64), Denver starting running back Willis McGahee (.78), and recent Chargers acquisition, Ronnie Brown (.88).

Yeah, I think that the WC sets up real well for our backs as a whole. I believe Reese will do real welll in this offense. THE ABS is also a natural fit for the running-style of Dmac.

I just can't shake the thought that his foot is going to get injured again. If that happens, I think he is done for good.

    and the worst is...

The bottom of the chart is full of interesting names as well. Cedric Benson has not been the answer in Cincinnati’s passing game
another reason why I don't want Benson. was rated one of the worst after contact, not elusive anymore, doesn't have the speed & led the league in fumbles on top of it all. If we do pick him up, I hope it's backing up either Goodson or Jones.

Hoping he can duplicate what Garner did in 02 as far as catching out of the backfield

THANK YOU. hes average at best. Might as well give Goodsen, Jones, Reece the carries. All way more elusive and explosive

I think we should see what Goodson can do with first team reps in the preseason before we spend cash on Benson which could be spent elsewhere. We have more and IMO bigger holes on defense then at backup RB.

Yes, DMC will probably be that player that benefits most from the west coast offense - I can see him stacking up a lot of yards catching the ball. Does anyone know if the two backups have good hands or not? I know they have the speed to cause matchup problems for defenses -but have no idea whether or not they have the ability to be considered reliable receivers out of the backfield.

I hope Goodson gets a real opportunity during preseason.
