If he's gotta go, that's the business. I have always appreciated Murphy and his fire, and his non-chicken washing. His long touchdown catch against Dan Diego during his first game in the league was definitely a highlight that year.

Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times believes Murphy is in a battle just to make the roster because of buzzy rookies Juron Criner and Rod Streater. Criner has looked the part all offseason despite his status as a fifth-round draft pick. Streater, an undrafted rookie, took some snaps with the Raiders' first-team offense last month.
The Raiders' top three wideouts this year figure to be breakout choice Denarius Moore, an improved Darrius Heyward-Bey and Jacoby Ford. That is an explosive group; all three players can take any play the distance.

In total agreement. Murphy better shine this offseason or a couple of rookies will make his stay in silver and black a short one. While Murphy came out as a rook and was better than let''s say DHB for awhile - Murphy's progress has stalled while DHB has shown a steep progression curve. If Murphy has already hit his ceiling, and continues to not show any improvement - than yes, I can see the organization going with the two rooks who are very hungry and who may possess a lot more potential down the road.
He could be the odd man out for sure.

Gun shy.
He took one serious licking in one game, and since has been afraid to get hit
Its a shame to say it but, Over come that or pack yer bags.

We ARE the NFLs Trading Bitch !!
The way I see it, we've already seen what Murphy can do, and it's not enough. Time to bring in the young bloods.
I've said this before, but WR is the one position I'd say it is fair to assess to a certain degree during OTA's. If it's true that Criner and Streater are turning heads, they will have the edge going into training camp, especially since Murphy's been hurt. If they can take advantage of this, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Murphy is looking for a job elsewhere.
Wish we could trade him for a pick or depth on defense...

I prefer for guys to win jobs by performing in games. So we'll see how preseason goes, and if Murphy has regressed or is not coming off last years injury plagued season good enough, then I think it's possible. I still have that vision of him running down the field making huge key blocks against the Eagles, while Zach Miller runs down the sideline with the football.
Well he may not be a perfect fit for the Raiders. But hopefully there is some team that is watching that will take a notice. And fit him into their system. Just may not be the right kind of system for him.
Just like it gets "slow" here on RF.net, so is the case with Steve Corkran. He's gotta write something that has bite, even when subjects that have bite are scarce.
The article lacked anything solid to go on. Criner has done well in camp so Murphy will be cut? Streater took snaps with first team so Murphy will be cut? That's your analysis Steve? Really?
The article neglects any real evaluation:
-How about the prospect of keeping 6 WR's, especially considering Special Team needs?
-How bout the fact that Streater would be the safer commodity on our practice squad?
-How about the fact that training camp hasn't started?
-How about the fact GB kept 6 WR's and 5 TE's last year (21% of their total roster), a move that surely Ted Thompson's director of player personnel and of football operations surely weighed in on.
I had an interesting discussion on this subject with Evil Empire just a few weeks ago...
Murphy makes too much sense to keep on this roster for him to be cut. We are always surprised by a cut or two each off-season, but this one doesn't pass multiple smell tests.
Perhaps I'll be eating crow come September, but I've done that before... And I don't think it's coming here.
