I loved Terry McDaniel.. Those years were some under achieving teams though. Just loaded with talent and depth on D. That was when we could not find a true #1 RB or a Franchise QB. Marinovich bust...We were always picking up washed up RB like Roger Craig. I remember drafting Nick Bell and having high hopes for him out of Iowa. Also remember picking up an old Eric Dickerson. I loved Ethan Horton and many of those guys. Anthony Smith is all over the QB, now he's on the front page of NFL.com, but not for football though. We had everything but a QB...

It's not a coincidence that the arrival of Gannon turned us into Super Bowl team. That's the only time we were ever a true Super Bowl team. It's all about the QB, especially with this team. A lot of good Raider teams throughout the 90s that just needed QB. We can make the playoffs in the DMC era but he will only get us so far, even healthy for 16 games. CP must play elite to get us where we want to go. I have high hopes in Reggie scouting long and hard to find a top QB if he has to.

If they can win one Super Bowl before I die, became a fan in 1988, I will stop remembering why they lost, lol. Great defense though, which was usually always the case. Then the 2000s rolled in....

I was lucky enough to be around for all five SB's which is a blessing IMHO.

Until further notice raiders wont win a title no matter how talented they are. Seems this org has a bullseye on its back whenever they take the field.

The cold hard truth is the refs single handidly stole a superbowl from the raiders in the early 2000's and I dont see why they wouldnt do it again. Any team not named the steelers, patriots, packers, or giants will not get a fair shake offcicatting wise SEPCIALLY da raidahs

The NFL (and nba even) has made it clear ratings come first and everything else takes a back seat including actual talent.

Me too, Cheap. I've mentioned before that I still have a local (North Carolina) newspaper from Superbowl II Packers and Raiders. The game didn't even make the front page of the sports section back then. My how things have changed...

I gotta disagree a little bit. I do think the NFL has their favorites, BUT the NFL has always recognized that from a ratings AND marketing standpoint it is better for them if the Raiders are relevant. The NFL may not want the Raiders to win it all, especially over one of their pet teams. But they want the Raiders to be good enough to help them sell merchandise, tickets and TV advertisement.

I think the Raider bias has more to do with the old Rozelle vs. Davis issues. Now that there is a new "leader" in Oakland, I don't know how the relationship will be impacted.

One last thing... it's been proven that the black uniforms give the impression that the Raiders are the "bad" guys and they MUST be doing something wrong. I really think there are times when that subliminal message has an impact on the refs.

I was around for 4 out of 5. 3 of the 4 were great. Of course I was at the last one and it wasn't so great.
