    Revisiting DHB vs. Crabtree

Can't wait to watch DHB kick some @ss this year... look at the stats from last year...

However, Heyward-Bey showed signs of life last season when he caught 64 passes for 975 yards.

    ...

Crabtree had 72 catches for 874 yards last season.

I really don't care what Crabtree does he is not a Raider, but I do hope the DHB improves from last season. If he does we should win a couple of more games. I was pissed when we drafted DHB and I'm still not to happy about his play but he has improved and he puts in the needed work.

There were a lot of Donkey fans pissed with this guy Elway in the first few years he played. They got over it.

I'm still optimistic DHB will make fans out of a lot of people.

He definately improved. Enough so that going into this season he should get the benefit of the doubt from us. Moore, Ford, and DHB should all be able to put up good numbers as long as Knapp uses them effectively.

Yea I was one who wanted Crabtree and he has really underperformed from what I thought he would. He looks like he has the ability but apparently the attitude seems to be a bigger issue than I believed when we drafted DHB.

I still think we made a mistake taking DHB where we did. I dont mean that as a knock on DHB as he has worked his butt off and has improved immensely. But I think we could have improved our team more with a different player than we have with DHB. But we didn't do that and as long as DHB continues to work hard and produce on the field I am happy to have him on the Raiders.

Going back to the draft of 2009 retrospectively, who would you have taken?

He played well last year and started to look like a starting caliber WR but he still needs to improve next season if I'm going to believe taking him in the first round was a good idea. Hes shown a good attitude and has put in tons of work during the off seasons so just for that id rather him then the drama queen Crabtree.

I honestly liked DHB over Crabtree, but I didn't want either of them. I was big on Nicks and Harvin. I even liked Britt and Maclin over them.

DHB has improved a great deal. Hoping he continues to improve, although I don't know if this will be the right system for him. I keep seeing people say he's the #1 WR going into camp. Do they mean he's the best wr, he'll be the most productive, or the most targeted? Unless they move him to flanker I don't see how he's going into camp as the #1 WR.

From what I understand Moore is going in as the flanker, with Ford as his backup/slot WR. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

During that summer we had a thread about this, I remember saying Cushing. We could have gone WR later in the draft.

Yeah I actually *wanted* Crabapple. I'm now happy we went with DHB. He fits in nicely with the work ethic we're trying to pull together in Oakland.

In retrospect, it may have been nice to have a good tackle (hence bringing up Oher). Cushing would certainly have helped our D but we had Slade Norris at the time, so not really necessary.

    Interesting old thread

Here's an old conversation back in July of 2009 about this same topic. Interesting takes on these players before they even played a down. who says Raider fans don't know football and are delusional? (Cowherd).

I personally like this because it's one of the few times I sound like I know what I'm talking about.

If I was redrafting I'd take any one of (not in any particular order): Cushing, Maclin, Orakpo or Freeman.
