My brain tells me we will win 8-10 games this year, and Clayton is a complete idiot.
My heart, which I will always believe, tells me we will win 19 games this year until proven wrong.
Raiders, baby.

I think it was a given Hue Jackson was going to be fired. How could McZ keep a HC that set defensive records for indeficienies, set penalty records, and also threw team under the bus. The last press conference Hue Jackson had after San Diego he hung himself: said team sucked, *he* was going to have more control, etc.
I bet McZ knew he didn't want Jackson as coach before he was even hired as GM.

Ayso is a .sig genius!!
Long gone are the days that a sports writer actually did their homework on the subject their writing about, it's pretty damn easy to pick a team you don't like and talk **** about them! that's pretty much what it has come to for most of these retards/
I believe a healthy percentage of people on this site could write at a far superior report on the Raiders than these bozos. We wouldn't all agree with some of the conclusions (that's natural), but they would have more relevant and accurate content. Bill Williamson, IMHO, is one of the exceptions. He seems to actually follow what is going on in the division. I guess that's why it's his job (chicken or egg thing here). Again, don't always agree with his conclusions, but he does seem to actually know the names of the players and understand some of the implications of moves going on...

I think we're going to win more than 5 games, but I can't begrudge someone that looks at our starting CBs, our LB group, the loss of Bush, our schedule and the hire of Greg Knapp and sees a 5-win team. That is certainly a possible outcome. There are better teams that have gone 5-11.
I'm sure that 5-11 would get changed to 11-5 if we signed Albert Haynesworth.
Yes, it's Day 63 of the als_shadow holdout. Just sign the man.
To the OP - Jimmy Clausen was never better than JaWalrus. Hand in your man card.
Okay lets see this thing out. We lost our team owner and there was chaos within this organization. This team had the #1 RB in football at the start of last season then we lost him to injury for the season. We had a mediocre QB to start the season and then he was lost to injury. We didn't have a QB backup that was worth a **** so we picked up a better QB that had been retired for almost a year and he comes into a starting role for the Raiders without much time to get acquainted with the organization let alone the team. Our offensive line was mediocre at best and our defense well why even call it a defense!!! It was run by a clown who had no business being rehired by this organization. This team has had discipline issues on both sides of the ball for the past several years which have lead to "US" being our worst enemy. Tenebrous I know you are a Hue Jackson lover, but even tho I liked some of the things he did with the offense, there were many things I did not like and I believe it was the right thing to do when he was fired. We have a new coaching staff with emphasis being placed on defense and dicipline. The projected strating QB now had the off season and will now have a full mini camp to get accustomed to the new offense and teammates. Nobody with the past ownership or coaching staff could seem to figure out our dicipline issues over the past several years and now we have a new GM and coaches who have veteran players already saying they've seen a difference in the team's attitude and discipline. Now we lost some key players because of different issues, but I feel that even with those losses that this team will be much improved with the new "Discipline" outlook and with players that are football players and not just positional specialists. Only time will tell and this is the first year with lots of new additions for this organization, but I do believe we will win more games than "My Favorite Martian" has us wininng.
That is all.
I have no problem with Clayton's analysis. I have the record at 6-10.
With all the changes taking place, you know there are going to be growing pains. You know there are going to be injuries, and that this team lacks depth at almost every position.
I like what I see as far as the front office down through the coaching staff has progressed. I love the new structure and I like Reggie's vision. However, even though I believe Reggie will do a good job, it's still yet to be seen. It will be a good 3-4 years before we can start to tell how good or bad the decision was to hire Reggie, and Dennis.
Preseason could be an indicator of how this team will do in the regular season by comparing the discipline, and fundamentals of the defense from previous years. Am I the only one who gets a knot in his gut every year when you hope there is a change in how well the team plays fundamentally that first game of preseason? Hoping the penalties have improved and the how easily the defense makes pursuit and tackling look? Only to be disappointed every time? I can't be.
If this team comes out and you can see a legitimate change in culture over night, then there is some hope the Raiders can get over .500 in 2012, but the odds really are stacked against them. If they do go 6-10 or 5-11, as long as the team competes all 4 quarters and is in every game deep into the game, then I believe they are on the right track. Sometimes you have to take a couple of steps back in order to make a big leap forward.
We've seen turnarounds before with a change of culture. Cardinals, Falcons, Dolphins, Lions... however these teams went through a lot of "culture" changes before those "overnight" turnarounds came to fruition.
