By the way, I thought that Davis changed the colors and name - however I am not sure, so you may be right. Thanx for the clarification.
Im not saying there is no tradition for the Raiders in LA because there is some. But there is more in Oakland and thats where they belong to me. I completely understand how fans from LA believe that the Raiders belong there and I dont blame them I just dont feel the same way.

But no Davis didnt change the name just the colors which I thank him for cause that was a good change.

RIP Al Davis you will forever be in our memories. I know I was very critical of you but I always have and always will appreciate all you accomplished as a RAIDER!! I will root no more or no less for the Raiders and be no more or no less a Raiders fan now that you are gone.

No worries, I understand - out of curiosity, do you happen to know who did change the name? I recall reading that Davis' inspiration for the logo was inspired by Randolph Scott, but what was the inspiration for the name?

I believe it was the original owners. When they were picking the names they let the fans vote on it and Senors won. But then as the owners thought about it they didn't like it and went with Raiders which I believe was the third place vote by the fans.

I will say that the Raiders 13 year tenure in L.A. was good, great, because it only expanded the fan-base, made Raider Nation much stronger, but i'm glad they are back home in Oakland where they belong and hopefully they stay there.
