Espn has the raiders at 26, yes 26th in the league this year and NFL dot com has them at 22nd. Ouch, what you guys think? Are they accurate? They did have eagles ranked 1st last year and we all see how that ended up.
Power rankings are supposed to have predictive value in game match ups.
How much "power" do we have in game one with a new GM, a new HC, a new DC and several new starters? We are not number 32 because of our talent level [thanks AL]. So count up from there... how many bottom feeders are definately worse off than us? I'd guess about 5 or 6. Hence our low ranking.
Don't see why that's a "problem" for anybody. It's all based upon paper... as is the power ranking, which only exists on paper.
We are not going to start off the season by going 4-0 either, although we have fans who have predicted this already.
There is only one power ranking that is every accurate. Its the one at the end of the Super Bowl and it only has 1 team on it, the Champs. The rest are inaccurate and mean absolutely nothing.
RIP Al Davis you will forever be in our memories. I know I was very critical of you but I always have and always will appreciate all you accomplished as a RAIDER!! I will root no more or no less for the Raiders and be no more or no less a Raiders fan now that you are gone.

Did you ever see dumb and dumber where lloyd reads the newspaper headline on the wall when he gets stood up by mary? Hes got his leather gloves and walks out after the bartender tells him where marys house is? This thread reminds me of it........

Who cares?
Power rankings at this time of year possess little accuracy and well are not worth getting excited or bothered about. They begin to actually reflect what is on the field about four or five games into the season. Until then, well, they are based more upon assumption, conjecture and gut rather than fact. Fact is no one on this planet can provide a clear picture of what the season will look like because the game of football is not played on paper. It is a game filled with surprises - some good and some bad.
So whenever I read a post that guarantees that the Raiders will not win more than 6 games or that they will win 11, I smile.
I can't really disagree with anyone whose perspective is "show me something". That's cool. We had massive turnover and no one can say for certain what we'll get from either side of the ball. Plus, it'll be great being a surprise team this year should DA's reign be immediately successful.
Of course then all the pundits will be like "I CALLED THIS BACK BEFORE TRAINING CAMP".![]()
Power ranking before anyone's roster is complete or the teams have not even played a Preseason game is meaningless. Flipping a coin would be as accurate. God I hate the off season.

Said it before, ill say it again. Giants were ranked 12 Week 17. Power rankings mean nothing, I want to be first in Lombardi rankings.
People complain about these rankings but honestly where would you put us? We were 7-4 and choked away the season last year. Our defense alone lost 4 games that should've been wins. We've got all new management and coaching in place. We've got an all new play book and several new starters.
So seriously where would you rank the Raiders? I'd say in the 20-25 bracket sounds about right. Maybe, just maybe the 15-20 bracket.
