So, we are supposed to give the name of the source on a public forum. Next you will want their email address and contact numbers.

It is for this reason that I hardly provide information I am given unless it is something that is likely to happen a few hours after I post it.

The other reason is all the negative comments you get for posting what you are told. People don't like to hear news that does not sit well with them. So, instead of taking it for what it's worth, they shoot the messenger. And, when the info turns out to be correct, people disappear. No apology. Nothing.

We will see how this plays out. However, I think it is funny that before this year people wanted players to earn their spots on the roster. Apart from a handful of good plays, Ford has not done a lot and is pretty inconsistent. He has to earn his spot on the offense and his playing time. Dennis Allen and Greg Knapp want to see what he can do in the Slot, so let's see. If he does not work out there (and I have my doubts due to lack of size), he then probably gets stuck behind DHB, Moore, and whoever is the Slot WR on the Depth Chart. For the first time in a while there is genuine competition at the WR spot.
What is all this about him not working out because of his size? You realize Welker plays in the slot, and is the exact same size as Ford. Allot of slot receivers are small.

Wait a minute your stating facts, that's not fair!

I understand all that Mo all I'm saying is I don't believe it, we are not in a court of law but don't just post something as fact when the only proof you have is here say from some guy. A lot of fans really think this guy is a diva when all they should worry about is how he plays football. I have no problem with Ford on the field and that's all that really matters to me.

I realise that as well, and that is why Ford is being looked at strictly as a Slot WR, for now.

However, you look at the balance of the Raiders potential starting 3 WR's:
    DHB - 6'2", 210,
    Moore - 6'0", 196
    Ford - 5'9", 185

There is no big, 3rd down target that can move the chains. The Raiders are running a different style offense than the Patriots. The WCO relies on a bug check-down WR, whether that be a RB or a WR the size of a Schilens. Ford is not going to catch passes underneath. At the moment, he does not make space, either. He has made some remarkable catches, yes, but down field and in trafiic. These are low percentage catches. For a WCO to be effective you need big, reliable 3rd Down targets. Ford is not that.

I am talking about on offense. I have already said he can make a career as a KR and #5 WR. and said that is up to him.

Howver, to address you "game-breaking" statement. As a WR in 20 games he has 3 Recieving TD's and 2 rushing. As for game changing, he has 4 receptions over 40 yards, bearing in mind his 3 TD's. In 2011 his only +40 yard reception was in the game the Raiders won. It was alos the reception he got injured on and we did not see him again for the next 7 games (with a guest appearance in the last). His only reception in this game was not a "game changer". The week before he was 5-105 and a TD, except the Raiders lost by 14 points, so no game change there.

    Back to 2010:
Week 9 against KC, his breakout 6-148 (win)
    Week 12 against Miam, 4-108- 1TD (loss)

TD's in wins against SD and Denver, but hardly "game changing". He HAS made an impression as KR. This is why I say it is up to him, whether him wanst to be a star WR, or a #5 WR and a very good KR.

Don't romanticise, he has done a handful of good things, as I said previously, but he disappears as well. His consistency is a concern.

As I said, it is open competition at WR. Don't play favourites based on a handful of good plays in the past.

i dont see ford getting guaranteed reps at the slot

i remember mckenzie stating that the team needed a big receiver that attacks the ball at its apex in coverage

right now ford doesnt neccessarily offer a dynamic that moore and DHB dont bring themselves (speed)

DHB is the physical guy that can stretch the D, or stay underneath and be difficult to tackle after the catch
Moore is the fluid route runner with a skill set of a classic WR
ford is just a fast guy thru and thru,

whats missing is the big guy that can attack the ball and adjust to poorly placed throws and make tough catches

i expect criner, or streater to win that slot position

ford is a utility guy who should be used in certain packages but not be on the field predominatly with DHB and moore

theres just not enough range/dynamics between the 3.

I like how you use 300 words to deny the fact that he has game-changing ability while at the same time admitting that he does have it. You a lawyer or something?

Knapp's offense will emphasize getting the ball downfield. He has mentioned this numerous times. We won't be running a dink and dunk WC system.

For this offense to be effective the ground game has to be churning out yards to setup the play action.

Success in the system is first and foremost based on the running game.

Once you suck the defense up and force them to play 8 and 9 man fronts, you then use the WR's speed to go over the top.

Ford and Moore are the 2 best WR's at getting deep.

Knapp has a definite philosophy. He believes in the zone-blocking scheme and in bashing the ball forward with the running game to set up the passing game. Knapp listed three ways we'll know if his game plan is working.

"One, if we are not having negative running plays," he said. "Two, if we're not in third-and-long situations. Three, if we're getting explosive passing gains -- and the barometer we use for that is 16 yards or more."

I do not do word counts but I think I provided more than that. I provided statistics and facts.

Feel free to dispute the stats and facts I provided.

No, I am not a lawyer.

    Thnaks for the obvious.

So, who is your 3rd down, go to, move the chains, WR?

    DHB? Moore? Ford?

2 things you fail to mention about that reception:

    1) If Carson doesn't underthrow that pass Ford doesn't get tackled and injured.

    2) If Carson doesn't underthrow that pass Ford scores on a 70+ yard bomb. Would that qualify as "game changer"?

And I think we know there isn't a cornerback in the division that can hang with Ford. He'll either get a massive cushion or he'll burn his guy. Ask Brandon Flowers.

I agree at the present time we don't have that go to guy. Hopefully someone will step up in camp or the preseason.

If Criner continues the way he has been showing in OTAs he might very well be that guy. I agree that right now it's a big if, but we are going to need to find that 3rd down guy otherwise we could have a long season on offense.
