Student: Good riddance, Lane Kiffin - Page 2 - ESPN

To my fellow students at the University of Tennessee and me, Lane Kiffin is about as faithful as Tiger Woods.

Kiffin's once-heralded photos on campus have been replaced with photos of weasels and rats. Facebook hate groups have been started, and joined by hundreds of fans. And videos of riots have flooded the Internet. Professors commented about it today. Football players sarcastically joked about not going to class because they have no coach to answer to. And news vehicles continued to line the streets of campus.

When Kiffin was hired a little more than a year ago, the ceremonial rock -- with a rich history of providing motivation for big events -- read, "Hail Kiffin." As his reign continued, the rock had more messages worshiping the new coach and testifying to his popularity. When Kiffin accused Florida coach Urban Meyer of cheating, we students stood behind our coach, and even found Meyer's cell phone number and painted it on the rock to mock Florida. In a total reversal, today the rock is painted with obscenities, as well as the cell phone number of Kiffin's wife and the family's address in Knoxville.

The worst part of all this is Kiffin's broken promises. We felt like Kiffin would fight for us, and as loyal students we took his side. We believed in him. We hailed him. Even after the recent player arrests and the negative light that has been on campus, all students could think about were the recruits and the upcoming season. Now, not only does a winning season seem impossible, but the team, the fans and the students feel broken, betrayed and empty. He left us all, in a 30-second interview with no remorse.

So from all of the loyal football fans at the University of Tennessee who treated you, Lane Kiffin, as if you were our god, we gladly accept your resignation … your classless attitude does not belong at Tennessee.

Now, in John Herrera's retirement, I can imagine a typical morning:

I really cant blame him for anything he's done. He took his dream job when offered. I didn't like the move (being an SC fan) but hes done a good job IMO. I dont blame anything he did with the Raiders. If im an OC at a college and get offered a HC job in the NFL, regardless of the team, i take it. No matter how crazy the owner! lol

On that note, Its a funny statement! lol and she is hot!

How can you not blame him? It's one thing to take the job, I don't think anyone had a problem with him taking the Raiders job to start. But to then go behind Mr. Davis' back and start looking for his next job was ridiculous. On top of that, calling out his own players in the media, slandering the organisation, and pretty much doing everything he could to try to be "Fired" so he could leave and still get his money, yet you don't blame him?

I read somewhere that Kiffin is a great coach until he's looking for his next job. Couldn't be more true.

I agree he shouldn't have acted the way he did and went about things the way he did here but I do understand his reasoning. I have no hate towards Kiffin and never have. He is just one of a long list of coaches who could not work with/ for Al Davis. He was an immature idiot the way he handled it though so I also get the hate that many fans have. For myself I just don't care about him. I'm impartial towards him. Don't like him, don't hate him. I can care less about him. I think X's and O's wise he's a good coach but it does seem he has some character flaws that make it easy for fans to not like him. Like I said earlier he has shown a lot of immaturity since he first left USC to come here.

If there's a joke here, I don't get it. Lance was never a coach here. What is this, some kind of early Halloween joke? Or is it a late April Fool's joke?

Bring Back Mr. Herrera. He was my hero. But, not as much as AL.
