Belichick gives Al Davis credit for his defensive schemes. That has a little more weight in my mind than the media or many posters comments.
Bro, Ryan was in Cleveland that year. Marshall was DC in 09.

As far as Belichick, calling a defensive sceme "interesting" isnt exactly giving credit.

And don't make me bring up last year's numbers. They're just not good.
    - Yeah, 18th in tackles... as a FS where he's not the run stopping safety in the scheme. Look at all the guys in front of him, they're all run stopping safeties with the exception of Weddle. Btw, he was 14th among DB's. NFL Stats: by Player Category

    - Who gets INTs in our scheme?? 3 is an excellent number in a scheme where he played man coverage more often than the average safety.

Because I'm not a scout, I like to use this site. For the most part they're correct.

Voted as a pro bowler on on PFF.

Or what about him winning an all pro award from the Associated Press?

Seems like you just want to talk #'s. Do your little rankings with Polamalu's #'s from 2010 and let's see how he does:

Btw, I'm not going to argue for him in 2011 simply because he wasn't good.

But lemme ask you, what player on our D DID do good under Bres in '11?

Also, if Huff sucked so much, wouldn't the FO cut him like they did with Wimbley and Routt? They took the cap hits with them, why not Huff? hmm..

You're looking at simple tackles, not tackles plus assists (the Comb column). If you actually look at player stats for defensive backs (which is what I quoted), sorted by combined tackles/assists (the number in question), you'll find...

    NFL Stats: by Player Position

... 17 defensive backs ahead of him including several free safeties and corners. He DID make All Pro that year I'll grant you (though second team). But is that what you want? A second team All Pro once in his career?

Are you saying you'd want Huff over Polamalu? Really?? Do you think there's ANY comparison??

Look, I'm not rooting against the guy. I hope he does become a reasonably good player at some point in his career. But right now he's all talk, reportedly little practice, and almost zero performance during games.

As I've said several times, given his career to date he needs to STFU and practice hard and play harder. If he ever DOES become a reasonably good Safety, then he should STFU and let his play on the field speak for him.

    Ayso is a .sig genius!!

Marshall was the DC in 2009 and if I remember correctly Nnamdi said he would be getting a tongue lashing from Al after the game.

If Marshall would have been allowed to run his preferred scheme he most likely would still be the DC.

Al didn't care about success, he cared about success running his dopey defense.

It was like playing with one arm tied behind our back.

Who in the hell would have hired Corky the clown for a 2nd go around?

Al the puppet master is who.

Huff was dead on, I have no problem with what he said. Preach on Huff.

My take on Huff is he is decent against the pass and below average vs the run. He isn't a physical player which hurts him in tackling. He has shown some skills as a coverage safety but he isn't consistent. I have some question as to how much the old schemes played into his consistency issues. I have hope the new scheme will help Huff but I doubt he will ever live up to his draft billing.

I have to admit when we got Huff, I thought we would be getting an Ed Reed at least Adrian WIlson type force back there, instead It looked like Giordono outplayed him last year when he was in.
Yes I know ED Reed is a hof, but when you spend a 1st round pick on a saftey you think the middle - deep part of the feield will be shut down. HUff.........

Of course I'd like him to get more All-Pros. He's got no excuses now.

No, I never said I wanted Huff over Polamalu... Geez, I hate when people do that. I'm simply saying stats don't matter as much as you're saying, because even TP doesn't stack up that well yet we all know how good he is.

Also, I don't think it was that big of a deal what Huff said. He was asked a question and answered it honestly. I'd rather hear that then all the BS politically correct answers we get nowadays from players.

Nnamdi definitely said they would be getting in trouble for that and even more telling was what McNabb said about us NEVER blitzing, much less zone blitzing so they were not prepared for it. A guy on the o-line for the Pats said on Sirius one time that when it's raider's week bellicheck wouldn't even have the offense watch film. Said there was NO MYSTERY to the Raiders defense...called it a waste of time

There's very little mystery to anybody's defense. Thry all use 11 players, except when they can get away with more... I've never seen all 11 players rush and I've never seen no players rush...
