Anybody who thinks our Defense was cough cough "good" last season. Needs to stay off the drugs........ Our defense at times last season completely quit or would get too comfortable if we built any type of a lead. Here are some examples

Game 2 Vs. the bills, up 21 - 3 at the half. The defense flat out quit in this game and assumed the Bills just packed it in after being down by 18 points.

Game 3 Vs. the Jets. Even though we won this game, the defense made it incredibly close once we took a 31 to 17 lead. "daaahhhhhh we're up in the 4th quarter no need to keep on playing!" The jets would go down and score rather easily to make it 31-24. Then thanks to a 49 yard Jano FG we went back up by 10. I guess since we're up by 10 with about 3 minutes left, the game must be over. If it wasn't for a lucky shoe string tackle by Seymour, Sanchez would have made it a 3 point game with a certain onside kick in the works.

Game 8 Vs. Tebow and the Donkies, up 17 - 7 at the half and ended up getting blown out. The defense made Tebow look like John Elway. This was about the time I completely gave up on this defense and knew that a whole new personal would be needed.

Game 14 Vs. the Loins. This might have been the most painful loss out of all of them. Up 27 to 14 with about 7 minutes to go. I remember Tommy Kelly forcing a fumble which was scooped up and scored by Aaron Curry. This was our 1st defensive TD of the year and it couldn't have come at a better time. Everything was looking Raiders at this point, but no of course not.......The defense would completely cave in as we would give up 2 late game TD's and lose by 1.

Game 16 Vs. the Chargers. Don't get me started on this one............ The defense lost us the divisional title and a chance at the postseason since the 2002 season, nothing else needs to be said.......

Their are more examples but these are the ones I can think of right off the top of my head right now. If the Raiders want to be a good team then those issues I listed above need to be fixed.

LMAO! The worst defense in the league cannot be "decent". And the offense was the reason we won any games! They were inconsistent, but to even say the D was more reliable than the offense.... Come on, man...

That lions game was terrible. We should of lost to the Texans and Vikings. We barely beat them and AP didn't even play after half time

Seymour and Kelly looked more like doormen than DTs on peterson's rushing TD. They had no intent whatsoever to stop the run, they were getting a sack.

Please tell me what you base this on? Burris has not played one down in the NFL, we don't even know If he will even make the team and If he does who says he will start.
My opinion is based on what he showed in college and no i'm not comparing the two..he has great football instincts and is very smart! has a natural knack for the ball and makes great reads and cuts towards the ball, A lot of this you can't teach a player.

You have a real point that toughness isn't enough (Brock Leisner) but Curry had no training camp with us and got thrown into a new situation mid season. He might never be a guy that you want on the field in all situations, but I think there is a good chance the new staff can find a role for him that covers up some of his weaknesses. His play on McNeil went a long way toward us beating the chargers that game.

We would be a better team now if we hadn't thrown Thomas Howard away. Never understood that.
I agree that Curry didn't have an offseason with us but if I'm not mistaken wasn't he considered a bust in Seattle? Just being tough is not going to cut it anymore around here..that is what always stops us short of the playoffs.
