OC Knapp says Raiders unproven at tight end

    >> LINK <<

Ausberry is working with the first-team offense at OTAs, but is likely to be spelled as a run blocker and in pass protection. The Raiders project as a conservative, run-balanced offense under new OC Greg Knapp, with limited tight end production. Brandon Myers and FB/TE Richard Gordon figure to be used in a platoon with Ausberry, as role-specific players with starting experience.

If I had to pick one position where I think we should pick up someone before training camp, this is it. Crazy to think that a 7th rounder from last year that couldn't even put it together in college and doesn't even a catch in his pro career projects as our starter for the season. We should absolutely be giving Visante Schiancoe a telephone call.

IMO were ok at the TE position, Brandon Meyers made an impact last season as a result making Boss expendable. And with all the praise Ausberry has received from Palmer, he must be coming into his own. We have a top 10 offense that is only getting better, our defense is what flat out sucks and needs upgrading. Just my 2 cents.

I remember a guy names Gates that was inexperienced. I think he has turned out well. Ausberry has good hands and good moves he will be fine. We need a blocking TE maybe.

I remember a thousand other tight ends who were inexperienced and didn't turn out well. Saying "he WILL be fine" when he has made no impression during actual games is asinine. He could be a long term option at tight end, but the odds are stacked against him even if he looked good in practice.

He did not get much playing time last season. Asinine? The staff has been very impressed with him. I will take their opinion rather some analyst on a message board but thanks for chiming in on this.

Boss was a beast. He could of been great. IMO letting him go was a big mistake.

The fact that the Raiders have not brought in a veteren could speek volumes. Of course we have a ways to go before the season starts. I do know that CP has said good things about Ausbery.

Actually if you read the article it is a CoCo Times article in which it does not quote Knapp as saying anything except there is work to do. This is pure opinion from Steve Corkran (Mr Sling it against the wall and hope it sticks). Yes there is work to do but is that not what OTA and Camps are for? This is a whole new offense, scheme both blocking, run and passing. Knapp does not use the TE much as a receiver in his offense as a rule anyway so it could be a TE by committee. I believe the team is back in OTA's Monday - Thursday with a Full team Mini Camp coming up later this month on June 12th-14th our first Full Squad Mini Camp. The may have one more Mandatory Mini Camp in July before Training Camp around July 26th. I trust if they are not satisfied with the results from our current group they will look to FA to tighten it up. Panic Much Guys?

Are you serious bro?.. his run blocking was nice but other that he didn't offer anything. Spent more time on the sidelines than other field. There was a reason Myers got PT.. he was playing better. Ausberry can be situational but with a dangerous back they still have to play the run. Myers is fine. TE our what the QB makes them

Great catch Ran, looking at the title of the article one would think that Knapp said our TE's suck.
