Carson Palmer WILL prove the haters wrong this year.

Let me preface this post with the statement it will be a rant. I would post this as a blog, but I don't know how to/ if I can.

If I had a lot of money, I would bet a lot of it that Carson Palmer will return to his 2005 form this year. My confidence in this stems not only from his own skillset, but his WRs. Right now, I think we secretly have one of the top 3 WR arsenals in the league. I know there will be posters on this site that say "it's too early to tell, they're still developing" and to them I would say "exactly". Carson Palmer has the advantage of being a veteran at 32, and he has played with a lot of different great WR with a lot of different talents. Now, he gets to take that experience and act as a player-coach to mold our young wide-outs into targets a QB can trust all the time. This year, mark my words, all of our young names like DHB, Moore, Ford, Criner and maybe even someone like Ausberry will shine and become names in the league. As you read this (depending on the time, smarta$$es), Palmer and the young guys are probably on a practice field, in a gym or reviewing tape and developing an intimate chemistry. If Knapp takes a few pages out of Al Saunder's 700-page book, and if McFadden can be healthy to serve as a distraction and dump-off target, I think Palmer has a chance to have the best year of his career.

    Palmer 4261 yards, 30 TDs, 16 int.

I can see where you are coming from when you say DHB, Moore, and Ford might turn out to be a top WR corp, but you through me off when you listed Criner. Can he play a NFL game before we include him in one of the top 3 WRs groups?

I don't think even a hyper-sensitive emo kid would really care what two or three people on some internet forum have to say about them. Calling them "haters" when they are poorly informed (going by their posting history) in general seems a bit silly, too.

Of course there are some in the media who think Palmer is more or less done as a force in the NFL. I wouldn't classify them as haters, either. Just ignorant, like they are about most everything else S&B.

I seriously hope you are right, but a lot of things have to well. The style of offense, the play-calling, DMAC has to remain healthy, as well as all the key players... I think we have the team that could give CP those numbers, but is Knapp the right guy to guide them? We are going to need a lot of luck, because injury and failure is a Raider trademark the last 10 years. Time will tell. The season can not come soon enough. 10-6.

I'll go with 4087 yards but otherwise totally agree.

We just have to wait and see. Palmer has all the tools and the talent around him to succeed, let's hope Knapp's offense has some vision and it works.

Good post. I think everyone is overlooking how hard it is for a quarterback to jump on a new team in the middle of a season and be able to bring his normal productivity. He's still in his prime and has plenty of weapons now. Look out!!!
