What is the exact penalty if we cut McClain and are over the cap? No more bs please

I'm tired of hearing about how we can't cut McClain because of the cap penalty.

There must be an appeal's process for special situations. I can't believe that the NFLPA wouldn't have included language in the CBA to deal with this type of situation.

We lose a draft pick?

We forfeit the 2013 Super Bowl trophy?

We pay a $1 million fine?

How can I argue about this unless somebody gives me a definitive answer?

You must be under the cap at all times. All transactions are looked at by the league. If we can McClain today we would free up 1.65 Million on this years cap. The rest of the hit would come next year where we would take a cap hit of 7.25 Million. If the cutting of McClain put us over the cap we would have to dump salaries by the end of the business day or the transaction would be voided. This is not the NBA

Like Denis Allen said "We are going to let the legal process play out" The NFL and the Raiders are going to wait to see if he's guilty first then come to any conclusions including suspension/cutting him from the team they don't want to cut their best MLB for no reason they wanna wait and see if he really did what they are accusing him of. There is only one thing wrong with the scenario. What if McClain trial falls during the season? Do you take the chance he is found guilty and will be gone for the season? I think at some point you need to look at this. What if he is found guilty spends 3 months + in jail misses the whole season and then is suspended by GODell for 4 games to start 2013?

McClain needs a huge year and he needs to show he can do better in coverage as well. He will be a Raider this year but if he plays the way he has so far McClain will be released or traded. I would love for him to turn on the swicth this year and take over as leader on this D. There has never been a question about the kids smarts,that was one of the hot topics about him when we drafted,his intelligence.


If he doesnt produce this year,then look for us to be making a draft pick for MLB next year with the first rnd pick. Next years draft is going to be heavy on the D,which means all the guys on that side of the ball for us need to play well. The D is the only thing on this team that still really needs a overhaul.

I suggest he puts up some amazing numbers this year because if Ro doesnt,then he will be gone
