Just for fun, All time Raider starting line up

I was thinking about the Matt Millen punch thread and it made me wonder if he was one of our best linebackers of all time. Then I thought it would be kind of fun to put together an all star line up of Raiders (offense and defense). Here are the rules:

    1. Must have played for the Raiders at any time in history
    2. Must be their natural position, can't change their position like people do in Madden
    3. Can change the formation to 3 recievers and no full back or whatever you want
    4. That's it, have fun

Here is my All Time Offensive unit:

    QB - Snake
    HB - Bo Jackson
    FB - John Ritchie
    LT - Art Shell
    LG - Gene Upshaw
    C - Jim Otto
    RG - Wayne Hawkins
    RT - Lincoln Kennedy
    TE - Ghost
    WR - Fred Biletnikoff
    WR - Tim Brown

I couldn't think of a beast at Right Gaurd from the past, I would have put Wiz here but he was a Left Gaurd. I'd like to see what you guys come up with. If the thread takes off I'll post my pick for all time defense and Special Teams.

I wouldn't start any team without Cliff Branch. He's my first Raider. He owns all 3 Rings.

I'm sorry, but Pete Banaszak cleans and jerks Ritchie. Banaszak a 12-year AFL and NFL Raider, with over 50 TDs.

Most famously remembered for keeping the "roll" on the "Holy Roller".

A rebuttal to Banaszak could be that he was in some eyes a RB, but he played like a FB.

Personally? I've always considered him a Fullback - a guaranteed TD at the goal-line.

I would like to consider Don Mosebar for center.

Are we not doing defense yet?

At FB? I guess that was a joke?

The Bo vs Marcus thing can be debated forever. Bo put up crazy numbers in the short while Marcus put up great numbers in the long...considering. I've forever been a fan of both.

No joke. Marcus was a great FB when asked to play there.

If I remember correctly, Marcus makes the critical block as the FB on Bo's famous run out of the Stadium up at Seattle.

Nice Call on Banaszak, but I agree that I always saw him more of a Running Back. That's the beauty of the list. Nobody's wrong. I picked Ritchie because he knew his role and he did it very well. He new he wasn't going to get the ball very much, his job was to open up holes for the guy behind him. One of my favorite Raiders of all time. Gotta love the bloody forehead too.

Defense and special teams are up for grabs. I'd like to see someone come up with a list for those as well.

He's also the kind of guy I expect to see a lot more of with RMC in charge.

VanEeghen over Ritchie. Has two rings and is the only modern era fullback I can think of with three consecutive 1000 rushing seasons! Also was money on goal line and in "killing the clock" situations, see the 1980 championship game against the Chargers for reference.

Furthermore, I put Branch ahead of Brown, Mickey Marvin at RG (if you don't want to move Wiz over), and possibly John Vella or Henry Lawrence at RT. Even though Kennedy was great, so were those guys. And don't forget Bob "Boomer" Brown, who finished his HOF career at RT for the Raiders.

Finally, I'll say Marcus over Bo. Bo is more electrifying, Marcus is the better football player, and played his best in the biggest games. True measure of a great player.

And no, I don't rate Gannon for consideration. He's behind Snake and Plunkett.
"He's relentless, shoot him in the head is the only way to stop him. If Howie's alive and still kicking he's coming."
