I watched all the games and I agree with this guy 100%. He did well ok because we needed him but i wouldnt wanna see him trying to tackle a person in the open field one more time. No one is bent out of shape but dude is a mediocre safety at best.

Im a raider fan and support all of our players but this guys sucks so bad just cuz he's a raider I wont praise him he cant tackle and can't cover. I am not happy with the signing I feel we could of found someone better.

I like it! matt played hard last season and earned a chance to be on the roster this upcoming season. he has a very good eye for the ball and is always giving it everything he has out there. some other players on this roster could take a few lessons from him when it comes to determination and never giving up. very good backup imo.....maybe coach allen can teach him some better tackling techniques.

This thread wasnt about huff or mitchell sh!t get rid of them too! I was talking about a safety who cant tackle! Im not caught up in the rah rah that he is a hard worker bs. please get players that can play ie tackle! Giordano can be replaced, Mcclain (i cant tackle Matt Stafford in the open field and go to the playoffs )needs to be reevaluated. This is no answer with ill will i just can care less if someone has h eart but always gets ran over or shook out of his jock like I witnessed MG do numerous times. That defense gave up numerous 95 plus yard drives to lose games in my opinion nobody is safe.

Amen! Im tired of fan favorites because they are hardworker let me see some production. He had a few cool ints but his coverage skills and lack of tackling areva huge liability.

How many backup safeties are going to give you the production, coverage and/or tackling skills you are looking for, though? The only reason this guy's weaknesses were even exposed was because he was thrust into action full-time last year, due to injuries. Any backup will show the same kind of weaknesses if he is exposed as much as Gio had to be last year.

Obviously a back up that can make that many game changing plays should be retained even though his open field tackling is not up to par. Hopefully the front 7 will handle that **** for once eh??

I guess you dont remember his 4 game saving interceptions last year, we could easily have been 4-12 without him.....

I wouldn't go that far dude, but I do like the signing as competition and depth. We'll see what roll he can carve out for himself, but that is indeed an exageration there.

Was more productive than Huff was last season, to be honest. More tackles and more picks. His 5 interceptions in 9 starts is more than any full season Huff has ever played.

He doesn't have the footspeed of Huff, but he seems to have better ball-hawking instincts. This would also allow us to go through with a potential switch to corner for Huff. Worst case, he's a darn good backup safety

well why wouldnt he be since the only way he's on the field is if huff is injured

I like the signing. He fits RM's profile. Someone who loves the game and works hard at it. He is not the most talented player, but he makes the most of his talent. Good quality depth.
