WE all disagree at times on this board. But I know we ALL have love for the raiders. but we can ALL agree NO ONE had more love for our beloved raiders!!!!

Outstanding post. At this time I am having a hard time holding back the tears. Although I have not agreed with Al's choices in the past it was all done for the Love of the Raiders and to return them to Greatness. RIP AL. The Nation is in shock. Condolences to the Davis family.

The only colors Al saw were silver and black.
I like to thank Al Davis for allowing me to fall in love with the SILVER and BLACK. Someone once asked me when the RAIDERS were going through their hard times why don't I root for another team. I told them, the SILVER and BLACK was in the blood. A real RAIDERS fan root for no other but the RAIDERS.
Well said, O.R.

For 2011, I will no longer respond to negativity or flame bait posts. Happy New Year.
Great post! And you know what sometimes is not mentioned,he was also instrumental in getting African Americans as officials on the field, and scouts. Al was one of the first to take players from the Southern African American colleges that the NFL generally ignored. I also must mention that in the early days of the AFL, when the Raiders traveled South,he refused to stay in hotelsthat were segregated. Known tobe very philanthropic to community organizations as well as many former players.
Obviously an imperfect man,I've had my own negative thoughts about him,but nonetheless he is to be honored.
Great thread! I was lucky to meet Mr. Davis back in 2001 and have a brief conversation with him. Al Davis trailblazed and fought against segregation before Rooney Rules. I appreciate all he did for my people and for others who might not have received an opportunity elsewhere. I'm praying for his family and friends.
And for some of ya'll assholes who in the past posted disrespectful comments 'hoping' for his passing, may karma come back and bite you in the ass.

As a white male I appreciate what Al Davis did.. Al Davis was breaking racial barriers down during civil rights of the 60s too. Today the NFL lost a legend.
wow bro even at this time? I am 100% black (if thats better for you) been a raider since 1978! also I was on this board before most here under (Playa) but honestly this isnt even the time. Think what you will. I bleed this ****!!!
born and raised in the projects of Newark NJ, is that enough?
Before you challenge the Raider Fans to sell out the Colisseum or say the locals don't support the team Please Read Raider187's extremely informative post: http://www.raiderfans.net/forum/oakl...ance-woes.html
