    Its official on NFL.com.

Al had a great life. To me deaths are much sadder when the person the person didn't have a full life, or was not able to accomplish what they wanted.

    Wow.. totally caught off guard.

RIP Mr. Davis. You did more for football than most can dream of. Not only did Al Davis change how football is played he contributed greatly to other aspects. First Latino QB, first female CEO, first African American coach, first Latino coach, list goes on.

RIP Al... Thank you for making the Raiders the team that I have loved for so many years now. The NFL wouldn't be what it is without you.

Truly a sad day for RaiderNation, the team, and the NFL. Mr. Davis, I picked on you these last few years about the way you were running the team but you had been one of the most influential owners in NFL history. You will be missed. RIP.

    FROM NEW ORLEANS... SaintsFanMan....

Haven't been here in a while and didn't even bother to stop in and gloat after the Superbowl win, but when I heard the news I decided to stop by.

Like Al Davis or not, he has been an icon of the league as long as I can remember.

RIP AL. My condolences to the family.

I just hope Mark Davis is ready to put on his father's very large shoes.

What an awful way to wake up this morning. Obviously this man was the Oakland Raiders and while i didn't always agree with some of the things he did, he was what made us different. A pioneer and a maverick....one of a kind. RIP Mr. Davis.

We all knew this day was coming, and sooner rather than later due to his age and health, but this is still a shock.

    RIP Al

Wow. It's one of those things that you know has to happen but it isn't any less sad when it does. I've loved and hated Al but one of the constants throughout almost my entire life is the Raiders. This is a sad day for all of us and it's a sad day for the NFL.
