Richmond working out for Raiders....
Source: Richmond working out for Raiders on Monday - NFL - Yahoo! Sports
TCU offensive tackle Nic Richmond will participate in a private workout for the Oakland Raiders on Monday, according to a league source.
The workout will take place in Ft. Worth, Tex. and will be conducted by Raiders offensive line coach Jim Michalczik.
The 6’8”, 322-pounder from Garland, Tex. was a three-year starter for the Horned Frogs and is currently the NFP’s 26th ranked offensive tackle prospect. Richmond’s above-average size makes him an intriguing option in the mid to later rounds.
In addition to working out for the Raiders on Monday, Richmond will also visit the Chicago Bears at the end of the month.
Here’s NFP Director of College Scouting Wes Bunting’s take on Richmond:
A massive right tackle prospect with a huge wingspan and a thick upper body but a thin-looking lower half, Richmond lacks ideal awareness off the snap and struggles to get off the ball on time. He exhibits above-average flexibility for his size and can coil up surprisingly well in his stance. But he displays long, lumbering footwork and struggles to reach the edge in the pass game and to redirect with any kind of fluidity in space. He demonstrates some natural power in the run game to seal and stick to blocks, but struggles to keep his base down and get into blocks quickly as an in-line guy. ??

one of these days we'll get serious about the tackle position instead of looking at these hobos as the answer

Personally, I'm thrilled to hear we are looking at this guy. Sounds like we're doing our due diligence with respect to the O-Line. Scout all these guys thoroughly!

Awesome...he's not even ranked as an undrafted RFA on about 9 lists I have looked at. Must be the next best thing...

Is it interesting that he is visiting the Bears also? When the Raiders drafted Mike Mitchell last year the Bears were supposedly interested in him too. Hopefully this won't be our 2nd round pick.

Hobos....lmfao, classic. I wonder what our scouts thought when he showed up with all of his gear rolled up in a handkerchief hanging from the end of a stick....

could be that they are thinking of taking him late in the draft or sign as a free agent. 3 year starter, 6-8 320+? That sounds like a Raider pick.

You guys do realize that teams on average try out 20-30 guys right? Many of whom they don't draft, but try out to get comparisons to other rookies.
You do your work, regardless of wether the experts think he's good or not.

Surely, the fact we're looking at a variety of prospects in a posistion of need can only be a good thing. I for one is happy to hear of any research our scouting team does if it benefits the team.
