Gradkowski 73.5 rating
Its not great, but within the range of tolerable for an NFL QB. A lucky bounce, and it was good enough for a win. Jamarcus in 9 games has an average of 47.7. His best was 85.4 when he went 8 - 13 for 100 yards in a 44-7 blowout loss to the Giants. Hardly counts. Next was 68.2 in a W against the Eagles - his best of the year.
It is pretty clear that Jamarcus just hasn't cut it. Worse, his work ethic and bizarre view that he is doing okay are very bad indicators that he can turn it around. When a bottom dollar free agent is obviously better than the 30 million dollar QB things are bad. And by the way, Gradkowski came into the league 1 year after Jamarcus.
Not saying that Gradkowski is the long term answer, but it really looks like Jamarcus isn't. Maybe we should cut him after the year is over. He really has been that disappointing.

That's not fair, the guy played his heart out, energized the team and they finally got a win, against a good team too.
Just not fair.

I never said he won the game, I said he was within the range of tolerable for an NFL QB. Jamarcus isn't.

Great no, but 2 TD passes + lucky break = win.
For the year Russel has 2 TD passes. For the year!

The funny thing is we all know Gradkowski isnt the answer and the position needs to be upgraded heading into the 2010 season but yet this backup caliber QB is an upgrade over our former QB of the future.
I wish we could just bite the bullet and release Russell. I know its not that easy when you look at the impact it will have on the cap.
Someone clarify this if im wrong.
keep Russell, sit him on the bench- salary counts against the cap. team will improve, But he is still on the team and you never know when Al will want to see Russell part 2.
keep Russell, start him- salary counts against the cap and we have no chance to win.
Release Russell- Garunteed bonuses are lost but is the reamaining yearly salary left on his contract? Dont know.
But team is improved no matter who the QB is plus the JR era in the NFL comes to an end and the Raiders can officialy move on.

I agree that we all should just enjoy this win. We have Dallas on Turkey Day and I hope we leave with a W.

I really think we have a chance if the same Dallas team shows up on Thursday that showed up today

Just a little FYI before saying Grad didn't play well:
Name CP/AT YDS TD INT
A. Rodgers 21/39 261 1 0
B. Roethlisberger 22/31 276 1 1
J. Flacco 22/31 186 1 2
J. Cutler 26/37 251 1 3
J. Flacco 18/32 195 0 2
M. Schaub 28/40 392 4 1
B. Roethlisberger 20/40 174 0 1
B. Gradkowski 17/34 183 2 1
I think we can all admit, these are pretty good QB's. Gradkowski had respectable numbers against a pretty good Bengals D. Also take into consideration the lack of a running game which put the game squarely on Gradkowski to win.
J-bust wouldn't have had us in a position to win.

Bottom line JaMarcus wouldn't have made some of those throws Grad made during the last couple of drives. No he's not the savior but clearly he's a better option than tubby.
