Cliff Branch (picture inside)
I just want to stay away from negative bs and share this pic with the fans. I met him last month in Oakland and he is super cool. I had him signed 50th anni. panel football.

Before long I'll have the auto ball in case.

I had a long conversation with him many years ago. The guy is so friendly and real. He let me try on his SB ring and warned my GF not to ever treat me bad, stuff like that. I felt like I had made a new friend. Very cool dude.

One of the biggest travesties in professional sports is the absence of Cliff Branch from the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Absolutely ridiculous.

I was pleasantly surprised to read that Peter King is finally supporting Cliff for the HOF this year, I hope he makes it:

3. Cliff Branch over the crop of quarterbacks. Players, coaches, GMs, commissioners and owners are in one pool, and you judge one's contributions against the others. One of my final choices came down to a receiver who I think has gotten short shrift, Branch, over a couple of quarterbacks I think have merit. I'm open to both Ken Anderson and Phil Simms. Anderson, in particular, probably falls short but was the MVP in 1981 and set the NFL record for completion percentage in 1982 (.706) that still stands today. Branch was more explosive than the noted deep threat Hall of Famer of the seventies, Lynn Swann (Branch: 17.3 yards per catch, Swann: 16.3), and he played longer, with just as much impact over time.

I've presented an exposé or two on the "quintessential deep-threat", Cliff Branch.
The guy has 3 SB rings, that should be enough. But he brought so much more to the Raiders success. You go back to those "Glory Days" of the old Raiders, and Cliff Branch is in all the highlight films, from Kenny Stabler through Jim Plunkett.
He didn't just run under the ball, he went over the middle with the best of them, he adjusted to throws with the best of them, and he battled defenders for the ball with the best of them.
I know, this is supposed to be a positive thread so, why am I getting p'ssed off all over again?

Nice, I met Cliff Branch back in 2007 in a Wal Mart in Martinez CA, he let me try on his super bowl ring. I bought one of his signed football cards for 5 bucks, he was a real down to earth type guy.

When I was a kid in the '70's my grandma was a real estate agent. She called me one day and said she just sold a house to some guy from that team I loved. I thought it had to be some bench warmer or water boy or something (I still would have been stoked). She mailed me the autograph he signed for me. It was none other than Cliff Branch. Needless to say I just about cr*pped myself.
One of the all time greats. Even if he doesn't get into the HOF anyone who saw him play knows it.

Cliff Branch is very cool, and friendly, I saw him this morning at the RaiderImage store before the game. You can find him every Sunday morning before home games at the Oakland RaiderImage store early in the morning.
