Nope. Going into this season, I pretty much declared this team will only go so far as Russell takes them. That's why I made this sig, because Russell is the guy upon whom this team's hopes were pinned.
Anyway, I no longer have Photoshop, so it may be a while before I make a new one.
I'd LOVE to know which HS you coach at, one that doesn't hold individual accountability, and feels it is acceptable to make excuses and point the finger. Bet they are an awesome program.
I'll be a paramedic in 6 months, I want you as my boss. That way, when I don't follow procedure or am too lazy to pay attention to details and some guy CODS on my rig, you'll let it slide!
I love being a Denver Broncos fan!
I know you've posted a lot, but all of the posts I've read from you are of douche proportions.
I guess I'll give you a chance before I pass judgement, but maybe chill out on the whole, "I'm an expert, and know more then you because I'm a coach and my Dad played for the Eagles and my Dad gave me a football for a pillow till I was 10" act.
Maybe then, you wouldn't have to be a d bag, and people would be cordial to you.
Just my .02 and thats coming from a guy who is behind Russell (I own his auth jersey), but is willing to be realistic.
I'm certain either Gradkowski or Frye would be an upgrade over what we've seen from Russell so far. I'm convinced of this point. IMHO, Russell has been about as bad as an NFL QB can be, so I'd be stunned if anyone did worse.
I thought Russell looked okay on a couple of drives this game and the final drives of the previous two games, but nothing else has even been NFL caliber.
I'm not an apologist, but I do think Russell will get better. I just have questions about high his ceiling is and how soon we can expect him to reach it. If he's this off now, it's hard to be optimistic.
So, I can understand if they continue to go with Russell, but I'd like to see him sit for a while. I think you have to do it for the rest of the team. It's demoralizing to go into game-after-game with nothing fundamentally changed in the passing offense.
Personally, I'd like to see Charlie Frye given a shot. I think he's better suited to execute this offense, but he came into camp late. Gradkowski is ahead of him on the depth chart because he knows the offense so well.
So, Grakowski will probably get the shot first.
I saw Hackett on the sideline talking to Gradkowski an Frye during one drive. Hackett never stops, he's constantly teaching.
I think AL wants to see this offense -- his style of offense -- execute one way or the other. I'm not at all convinced Russell gives this offense its best chance to do that. In fact, he's been an unexpected (for me, anyway) disaster.
I'd like to see if Tollner and Cable's vision can be effective with a more polished quarterback.
no offense, but you're very naive if you think either of our backups are an upgrade to russell...
sure...give them a chance...but if you do give them a chance, then you're pulling out of your investment in russell and also giving up on any progress being made for this season or the future
take russell out, we still wont win games...then we go into next season with a starter who still doesnt have even 32 games under his belt and u stunt any potential growth in the QB, not to mention his confidence....
russell will be here until the end of 2012, we might as well work towards progressing, instead of putting temporary bandaids in the offense for the hope of getting maybe an extra win here or there
playoff contenders bench their QB if they play bad.....
bad teams who are young, develope their young players...they dont play them for 3 games, then dump them and put a PROVEN scrub in in place of him...we go thru this every year...the starter plays bad, u guys yell for the backup...and then the backup proves to you why he is indeed a backup......
but if thats what u want...so be it...i'm already sold on the fact we are still in a transitional stage and will be for the next couple of years
trust that none of you guys resolutions will get us any more wins on the field
These are Russell's numbers through three games:
31-75, 41% comp, 219.5 yards, 2.9 YPA, 1 TD, 4 INT, 31.25 QB Rating
So, I don't think it's "naive" to expect better from either Gradkowski or Frye.
You say we should go ahead with Russell no matter how bad he is because we're not a playoff team. But, I don't think that's right. I'm sure it's better for Russell's development to remain starter, but the team deserves a chance to win.
If Russell is the worst QB in the NFL, and he is so far, there's really no sense in sticking with him. If he persists in being almost utterly incapable of executing this offense, we ought to bench him.
It's only fair to the rest of the team.
