Safety Keith Davis, signed as a reserve safety and special teams player during the offseason, was released according to the transactions page on Raiders.com

In a more surprising development, Profootballtalk.com reports the Raiders have waived defensive end Stryker Sulak, a sixth-round draft pick out of Missouri.

When Sulak was drafted, Raiders coach Tom Cable said the plan was to play him as a strongside linebacker along with fourth-round pick Slade Norris.

However, during the mandatory minicamp and OTAs, Sulak was instead lined up exclusviely as a defensive end and was getting reps with the second and third teams.

Not suprised Davis was cut, big no no to go against Russell in public without permission.

I thought the same thing......and after he tried to re-track what he said on raiders.com, you could almost set a count down to that cut.

Granted, Davis is getting old and there is probably a faster/younger player who could've taken his job, just my opinion though.

By the look on his face when he was asked that, I would say he must have got schooled after the first time he went against Russell and favored Garcia. He also was mouthing off about when Ellis came aboard and basically said that he had alot to do with the aquisition. Who knows though, he might not have impressed enough. Seems strange also as in we really need competition at the position.

Kind of F'd up, the reporters asked him that question trying to get him to say what he said. I mean, maybe he should have had a better answer, but these guys should just be allowed to play football, the whole media circus around sports is a joke. In normal circumstances, no one would care what a back up DB had to say about the QB, but QB controversies sell papers...

Granted, Davis is getting old and there is probably a faster/younger player who could've taken his job, just my opinion though.

I was being sarcastic about backpeddling and covering his tracks about opening his mouth with the reference that if he really was that good of a safety(backpeddling) they might have overlooked it.
