Your Favorite Non-Raiders

since its a little slow...

for all of you aficionados of football outside of the Raiders: what would your Raiders roster look like if you were to have a team full of past and present non-Raiders (in your lifetime) you wished would have at one point or another played for the Raiders? i'm talking in terms of performance, attitude, etc and not necessarily stats and Pro Bowls...i'm sure for some of us, it will take us down memory lane.

i'll post in a bit.

Bob Sanders is definitely a game changing safety. his game is not conducive to his health though, but you have to respect the way he brings it when he is healthy. if he were 2 inches taller and 15lbs heavier, he'd be the perfect safety.

Ray Lewis. We would then finally stop the run. He would also insure there were no slackers on his squad. Ray kills!

My favorite non-raider all time is Marino. Currently I would like to see any of these in our secondary:Polamalu, Ed Reed, or Sanders. It just seems those guys make a huge difference to their respective defenses.

Some of these...I'm showing my age a little bit, but here's my 40 man roster.

QB – John Unitas (Colts, Chargers) - True leader, the best QB ever to suit up in any ERA
QB – Joe Montana (49ers, Chiefs) - Didn't have the big arm, but was one of the smartest players in the game.
RB – Walter Payton (Bears) - Sweetness says it all
RB – Larry Csonka (Dolphins, Giants) - Brusing fullback that was once called for unnecessary roughness for hitting a defender too hard.
RB – Barry Sanders (Lions) - Appeared to be gliding on air when he ran the ball. Too bad he played for a horrible team.
RB – Jim Taylor (Packers, Saints) - Centerpiece of the feared Packer sweep of the 1960's
WR – Reggie Wayne (Colts) - Catches everything thrown his way, puts up fantastic numbers and reamins a quiet, humble leader and a team player.
WR – Michael Irvin (Cowboys) - All mouth, but backed it up with his play on the field.
WR – Otis Taylor (Chiefs) - This guy used to kill the Raiders during the heyday of the rivalry in AFL days.
WR – Paul Warfield (Browns, Dolphins) - Had it all, speed, hands and size.
TE – Ozzie Newsome (Browns) - Ranks among the best ever at his position.
TE – Mike Ditka (Bears, Eagles, Cowboys) - Many only know him as a coach, but he was more ferocious as a player.
OT - Anthony Munoz (Bengals) - Once he had the defender locked in, it was over.
OT – Kyle Turley (Saints, Chiefs) - Mean and nasty player who would fit right in with the Raider mystique
OT – Jimbo Covert (Bears) - A man beast is the best way to explain Covert
OG – Jerry Krammer (Packers) - Pound for Pound, the best guard every to wear an NFL uniform.
OG – Mike Munchak (Oilers) - Quiet player who never drew attention, but always made sure his man was taken out of the game.
OG – Conrad Dobler (Cardinals, Saints) - The Dirtiest Player ever to play the game...need I say more.
C – Dwight Stephenson (Dolphins) - True leader in a position where one is expected.
C – Bruce Matthews (Oilers) - Mr. Versitile... was an All-Pro at every position he played
PK - Gary Anderson (Steelers, Vikings) - Leagues All-Time leading scorer
P – Matt Turk (Dolphins, Redskins) - Hard to pick a punter when you've had 1 and 1A on your tream already.
DE – Julius Peppers (Panthers) - Pure athelete
DE – Deacon Jones (Rams, Chargers) - Coined the phrase Sack. Too bad they didn't keep stats on sacks because he would still be the All-Time leader.
DE – Shawn Merriman (Chargers) - As much as I hate the Lights Out dance, I respect his talent.
DT – Randy White (Cowboys) - Nicknamed the Manster. Half Man , Half Monster
DT – Joe Greene (Steelers) - Mean Joe...can't have a team without him being a member.
DT – Anthony “Booger” McFarland (Bucs, Colts) - Good run stuffer and you gotta love the nickname.
LB – Jack Lambert (Steelers) - I hated him as a Steeler, but would've loved to see him as a Raider.
LB – Ray Lewis (Ravens) - His reputation speaks for itself.
LB – Brian Urlacher (Bears) - Quick, athletic linebacker that can play every down
LB – Dick Butkus (Bears) - One of the most feared MLB's of All-Time
LB – Dave Robinson (Packers, Redskins) - Didn't play linebacker until he got to the NFL, where he was named All-Pro several times.
LB – Mike Stratton (Bills) - Find highlights of the 1965 AFL Championship and you'll see why he made this list.
DB – Ed Reed (Ravens) - A nose for the ball and lays the wood when he gets there.
DB – Sean Taylor (Redskins) - See Ed Reed
DB – Johnny Robinson (Chiefs) - Johnny on the Spot. Another Chief that used to kill the Raiders in the AFL days
DB – Dick “Night Train” Lane (Lions) - The Clothesline King. Look for highlights as words can't do it justice.
DB - Herb Adderly (Packers, Cowboys) - Pure cover corner who was a vital part of four of the first five Super Bowl games.
DB – Steve Atwater (Broncos, Giants) - Hated him as a Bronco, but man could he hit. Made receivers affraid to go over the middle.

Believe it or not. It's crazy how you ask this question the same week the man dies. But, I always loved Steve Mcnair. The guy was tough as nails and just refused to lose. Him and I really love Demarcus Ware's game from dallas. dude can be a 3-4 linebacker or 4-3 end. there are NO weaknesses in his game.

nice list Raiderboz. i'm sure a lot of the younger posters have no idea of some of the players you listed. unfortunately, my exposure to guys from Butkus/Csonka's era have been relegated to watching NFL Films.

here's my list that also reflects my age demographic:

OFFENSE
QB: Warren Moon (HOU/MIN)- rocket arm, smart, threw a deep ball that Al Davis would have loved.
RB: Barry Sanders (DET) - would have broken Walter Payton's rushing record had he kept playing. ran in the NFL like he was playing Madden.
RB: Adrian Peterson (MIN) - there was no doubt in my mind that he would be a force to be reckoned with if he stays healthy.
FB: Mike Alstott (TB) - for awhile there, Alstott was a sheer battering ram as a short yardage back. would've said Lorenzo Neal but now he's a Raider.
WR: Steve Smith (CAR) - you gotta love this guy's attitude and unwillingness to back down from anyone. plays way bigger than his 5'9" size.
WR: Hines Ward (PIT) - he would instantly be a fan favorite in silver n black with his scrappiness and nasty demeanor run blocking.
TE: Shannon Sharpe (DEN/BAL) - ex-Bronco aside, as a player he was someone you loved to hate...but would have loved him on your team.
OT: Jonathan Ogden (BAL) - 6'9" 340lbs was an absolute wall in pass pro AND he was quick.
OG: Randle McDaniel (MIN) - the quiet Viking with the dark visor played like Darth Vader on the field.
C: Dermontti Dawson (PIT) - ex-Steeler was a first team All-Pro virtually every year in the 90s.
OG: Larry Allen (DAL/SF) - this guy was probably one of the strongest OL ever in the history of the NFL...benched 700+lbs and 900+lb squat. sick.
OT: Kyle Turley (NO/STL) - injuries cut his career short, but i'll always remember him for his nasty demeanor and ripping the helmet off a defender and tossing it 20 yds.

DEFENSE:
DE: Reggie White (PHI/GB) - the way the Minister of Defense ragdolled and tossed OTs was a thing of beauty. RIP.
DT: John Randle (MIN/SEA) - Randle was crazy and undersized but was so quick off the ball with his strange stance that he lived on the other side of LOS.
DT: John Henderson (JAX) - anytime a guy's pregame ritual is getting slapped in the face should be a shoe in as a Raider.
DE: Neil Smith (KC/DEN) - got familiar with his game with the way he terrorized the Raiders with consistent pressure.
LB: Greg Lloyd (PIT) - Lloyd's game and demeanor always screamed Raider to me. he was so explosive and nasty on the field.
LB: Bryan Cox (MIA/BUF) - Cox was a little crazy and out of control, but he always produced on the field.
LB: Ray Lewis (BAL) - Ray has a loud game and personality to match. one of the biggest intimidators ever.
LB: Lawrence Taylor (NYG) - LT has to be on this list. how could he not?
CB: Dale Carter (KC) - as long as i've been a Raider fan, i've always respected Carter's game and toughness.
CB: Champ Bailey (WAS/DEN) - he's been the top CB for most of the 2000s before Nnamdi took the title away.
CB: Darrell Green (WAS) - old man River was still lightning fast well into his 30s to be on Al's track team. one of the best ever.
S: Brian Dawkins (PHI) - ex-Eagle now Bronco is one of my favorite non-Raiders ever. if you're not familiar with his career, you're missing out.
S: Steve Atwater (DEN) - one of the best in-the-box S ever. he decleated the Nigerian Nightmare Christian Okoye. 'nuff said.
S: Troy Polamalu (PIT) - really quiet guy off the field carries a big stick and is a terror on the field. absolute great competitor and great leader.

honorable mention: Shawn Merriman (could he sign a FA deal with the Raiders??), Sean Taylor (RIP), John Lynch (straight slobberknocker)
