This is the exactly the wrong attitude to have. If the raiders are rebuilding then you have to let a QB get settled and take some lumps and grow with the team.
The raiders for far too long have been about "reloading with veterans" and not REBUILDING and thus, have like one or two year windows of being good not the consistent 6-7 year runs you see with other teams currently. How do those other teams do it? The build around a player, let him take his lumps and grow and replace players with young players who can also grow with the team.
Not look to replace players with aging veterans looking for one last hurrah.
The possibility of Garcia being the starting QB for the raiders for anything less than Russell being injured is downright scary and a HUGE setback to the raider team.
Russell needs a good two years in a STABLE system to actually see where he truly is. Not having three different offensive coordinators/playcallers in one season.

Not saying Cable did it intentional. But what the hell was he being so candid about JaMarcus for. We never heard Jeff Fisher or Ken Whisenhunt be so blunt about their QBs. So how much smoother of a transition it was for them. They didnt mouth off about their qbs. They just replaced them if they werent playing up to par.

First, what exactly did Cable say that's worthy of your wrath?
Second, regarding Fisher ... are you kidding me?
Here's what Jeff Fisher said about Vince Young just about two weeks ago:
"Vince is in a situation now where he will have to do everything he possibly can to earn his job back," Fisher said at the NFL owners' meetings in California. "That starts with the offseason commitment."
Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher says Vince Young has to earn job back - ESPN
And here's what he said in January:
"We expect a 100 percent commitment from Vince. We’ll accept nothing less than that,” he said. “This is about Vince Young, and this is about spending the time here and about committing himself to the offseason program and just doing the best he can to make himself a better football player. And take advantage of the experience he gained this year even though he didn’t play.”

Hmmm ... doesn't sound much different than what Cable has said about Russell. If anything, Fisher's remarks on Young are harsher than anything Cable ever has said about Russell.

If he's worthy of his draft status, his paycheck and his starting QB job, then he'll do enough to keep it.

I'm going to edit your comment and change it to say, "it's Russell's job to lose...and he's lost it." IMO he was a JaBUST day1

Lol you missed my point.
Fisher did that AFTER Vince lost his job. Never did he say anything before Vince Young's breakdown to cause doubt.
Like I said. I dont think it was intentional, but it certainly came out the wrong way. If it didnt then we wouldnt keep seeing stuff pop up about Cable not believing in JaMarcus. How Cable is ready to pull the plug.
Yes he said positive things, but he worded certain things about JaMarcus horribly.

I guess i'm missing it then, because I don't recall Cable saying - or even implying - anything about not believing in Russell or being ready to pull the plug, etc.
Do you have a link to that?

Has anyone wondered that this can turn out to be a Kerry Collins, Vince Young situation here?
I hope not I believe Russell is way better than Young.

I think this guy is off like everyone else thinking that Russell is going to lose his starting job. Russ is the man and came a long way near the end of the season. I think Garcia coming in is good for his growth and will only make him better. I am expecting Russell to have a break out season this year. GO RAIDERS!!!

I sense he has about 6 games to win 3, or he's out of there - and his days as a Raider could be over, our huge investment in him will be a wash. Talk about a bad economy.
Meanwhile, when Garcia turns in his cleats for 'dancing with the stars' shoes, we'll be left with ... ?

If Jamarcus doesn't work out this season, how about a trade or something with the redskins and get this guy named COLT BRENNAN

I can't believe how many Raider fans are ready to throw Jamarcus under the bus after signing a 39 year old backup. I would think he deserves a look for at least 2 more seasons as long as he shows some improvement, or do you guys realistically think Garcia can bring the Raiders their 4th Lombardi with the OL, WR's, and Defense that we currently have? Don't sell your future short for a hedonistic wins. Drew Brees did not come into his own until his third year as starter, and that was with the pressure of Rivers looming.

Look I didnt want to draft the kid in the first place. We would have won more games and been better off right now had we gone with the real talent Calvin Johnson and then looked at getting someone like Troy Smith who can actually play qb and is on the money with his throws.
Or we could have just stayed with Dante and had Calvin as well and I can tell you right now it would be nothing like what thoes two are dealing with playing for the Lions. We have a better oline then them and rb's and we have a somewhat soild D.
with that said he is our Qb now and isnt going anywhere unless he completly screws up this year. Al is going to want to see him be the real deal this year and show some hope and not throw some of the worst throws I have ever seen in my life like he did this year.
This is the year he has to show that he has talent or hs is sitting the bench next year with a vet playing or he will be traded. We cant keep him if he continues to play like he did for most of last year.

With all that said imo the truth is "We will see Jrock benched when Al Davis says so". And with the potential and jack that is getting, it's not comming soon and it's not gonna be as easy as "today who gives us the best chance to win period, they start" I'll believe that when I see it. If I'm wrong then I guess something truly has changed.
And to knocking Cable, face it you can't win. He stays silent then we'll just make up negative **** or believe any negative rumors. He says something, we'll take it the most negative way possible.
FWIW Tenn and Ariz both said tough words about their two young QB's before they went to the bench. It was no surprise as neither staffs was happy, both focusing around dedication of the qb's.
