Ryan Needs to Go
At this point Kiffin is probably the best guy we could have to coach this young offense. He was after all a QB coach, a Tight End coach, a WR coach, an O-line coach, and an offensive coordinator at USC. That is at least better than Lofton. And with so much invested in the young offensive stars, Russell, Miller, McFadden, the wide receivers, it would be best if we not change coaches every 1-2 years.
If not Kiffin, then someone better and more qualified. But it looks like Lofton is the candidate. Since no one with good experience is willing to come to Oakland, I support Kiffin all the way. The whole “Kiffin needs to go” was uncalled for. The players can’t go, Davis can’t go, Kiffin will just be another scapegoat for our failed infrastructure. We won’t ever be able to achieve significant success and sustain it until some major changes are made in the way this organization is run.
Theres plenty of good coaches out there, if Davis lets go of control they'll actually come. Bill Cowher is a guy I can think of right off the bat. He can bring much needed discipline to this need. His personality fits the Raiders perfectly. I wouldn't mind Brian Billick as well. But these are guys that wont be able to work with Davis.

yeah those big name coaches will not come, no way with davis here. kiffin will probably be fired then james lofton will take over and rob will stay.
the combo of lofton + rob will make AL happy for a long time. both of them suck and will listen to the boss at all times.
Dark/sad times to be a raider fan. Al is commiting a franchise type suicide with the raiders and we're part of it

They would both laugh uncontrollably if offered a HC position from us. Then everyone on every sports channel would be talkin ish about the Nation. More then what they already do!

And thats why this situation is completely hopeless. Al will never give up control and so we will never get a decent HC to come here. If he hasnt realized the error of his ways by now, he never will

Ryan needs to go. And it's already been mentioned in about 93478 posts from the other 46784 threads about this exact same topic.

Ryan's been the DC for the vast majority of the 19-62 stretch so this is more than reaction to Monday night's fiasco. Do you really think the son of Buddy Ryan of his own free will would almost NEVER blitz? Don't forget the 2006 ranking was heavily skewed by or directly attributable to the most inept offensive seen in decades compliments of Tom Walsh (what a hire he was!).
I would respect Rob Ryan a heck of a lot more if he had the stones not to be a yes man / puppet for Al Davis. In the end it doesn't matter who the DC is since Al will ultimately call the shots regardless.

Kiffin is the son of Monte Kiffin, that doesn't mean much. Did you guys hear Asomughas comments recently, "When a team lines up on us and just goes out and plays, we can handle it," Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha said. "But when they start scheming us the way these guys did, and we weren't particularly ready for it, anything can happen." Basically, they didnt scheme defensively, Ryan just threw out a bunch of guys and hoped they would do everything. What the hell do Davis and Ryan do in their defensive scheme meetings every week?
I understand Loyalty to Davis, I wish he can live forever, I admire his passion more than anybody. But I dont understand the loyalty to Ryan. The TEAM comes before everyone, before the coaches, the players, I would say owner too but in this case the team is the owner.
As bay area fans, we should be able to understand this, I mean look at the A's and the Warriors. Beane is slowly building up the team to be really good. But this includes letting go of fan favorites, Swisher, Haren, Harden, etc. Same with the Warriors letting go of Richardson and Davis.

I liked what I read. I can care less what anyone thinks. Ryan knows defense peirod. He is manning up to the performance last Monday. KC won't know what hit him. Denver plain and simple had a weapon in the Rookie, KC doesn't. just out coached last week. If he was even hiding the fact he talks with Al, so what, who cares, he is a good coach.
