Oakland felt they needed to put a jolt in their passing game last night. That led to the smallest output in rushing yards all season (54-yards) and a shutout defeat. After losing Carter and the offensive line being so shaky, it is clear that if this team doesn’t emphasize the run and cannot pound away at opponents on the ground, it will have many problems putting up points in 2008.

Not surprising with a first year starter at QB, a shotty OL, and the coach telling the media we were going to air it.
I am no more worried than I was on Friday, which is to say I am not too worried, but I don't expect a whole lot either. I think they could go 8-8 but they could go 4-12 too. I do think when we run the ball we will see a different offense (hope hope hope)

I didn't get to see the game but watched the highlights on NFL.com. I noticed that the bulk of the points were scored in the 3r and 4th quarter. My question is, "How many of our starters were playing during the second half?"

That will never happen again. Kiffin knows that we can't play like that. We just don't have the tools. He'll play to our strengths and we'll be a different team because of it. If he still has his job next year, you can bet the O-Line will become his priority. He knows it's the weak link on a weak offense.

Our O-line is pure crap. Thats going to hurt our best chance at catching a pass Z. Miller because hes going to have to stay in and block so much. Its all well and good to be a running team. But if we arent running well we are screwed. Also there are times when we will need to pass 2nd/3rd and long. Near the end of a half etc. We are F-ed if we get behind in games. I hope Russell doesn't get killed this season or Kiffin get run out ot town by Mr Davis because Lance passing O is going to be so conservative.....

Lance Kiffin- He's kind of the general manager, director of college scouting, director of pro personnel and sometimes the defensive coordinator.

If you have NFL network and saw the re tape did anybody catch the cardinal commentator Bill Lewis' comment just into the 3rd Qtr when I believe it was branch that went down on that juke move, he said " I believe someone shot him from the stands" WTF!! the NFL wants a "family friendly environment" and this knuckle head says this crap I was alittle irritated. Oh and that "face mask" on Kelly highways head never moved so according to the new rule that's not a 15 yarder

THe Tackles are a problem. Gallery did very good in run and pass. Carlise was above average. ALl of the tackles blew monkey nuts.

Defense was excellent in the first half. 2nd half, dont get me started, they couldnt even stop ARZ 2nd and 3rd string RBs.
As for the Offense, they look even worse then last year. At lease Walker got used to catching the ball again it seems like.
I know its preseason but the Offense is killing it(in a bad way)

THE GOOD
Walker did step up. Miller is playing beyond his years and has obvious chemistry with Russell. Gallery kicked butt in run and pass. The starting D was pretty good. DT Warren is very good and constantly getting doubled. ST was OK.
THE BAD
Disturbing that our O couldn't score on the Cards starting OR back up D. THe WRs cant get good consistent seperation. Lack of variety in playcalling - better than before, but not great on its own. The OTackles are horrible, the back ups are even worse (is that possible?). Our depth on O and D are scary bad. Kelly and Sands show why our run D has been what it has been for the last five years.
THE UGLY
O'Neal and Carter's injuries. O'Neil's injury has a bigger impact as he was the workhorse for all of our RBs on our run plays.

As far as I'm concerned our 1st D gave up 10 thats it. That first TD in the 3rd was a mix of 1st -3rd stringers. So I think they faired pretty good. The rest of the points, it doesn't matter. Yeah 24-0 looks ugly but really it doesn't matter it was 10-0 when our #1's left the field. Even the Offense side of the ball they had 2nd stringers in under Russell. and frankly they suxed.
