I do believe Lane Kiffin wants to stay away from players that have a tendency to get into trouble with the law... sure Smith is a talented guy, but so is Javon Walker and my guess is he'll end up on IR or he'll walk away from the game... and that doesn't help the Raiders...

This way, you don't have to spend what it will take to get Steve Smith away from Carolina.
Bingo! All of the top WR's were drafted by someone, just as the top DLM and OLM were. Our problem is we have no GM who can find out what we need and go out and get it. Until we fix the front office we will continue to draft fast stiffs who can't play football.

If Walker turns out to be a dingleberry in preseason, and he still wants to walk away, Id consider looking at Koren Robinson.

uh...steve smith usually accounts for 60% of these guys offense...THEY ARE NOT GETTING RID OF HIM! Sorry...he had a fight with a team mate...this isn't a 3rd WR..this guy IS their offense. If he was all of a sudden available of course we would pick him up..he's one of the best wideouts in the league....

Why don't the Raiders ever draft football players and develop them into good players. I mean damn besides Nnamdi, Kirk Morrison, Shane Lechler, Thomas Howard, and Ron Curry the whole draft over the lasst 10 years has been a bunch of wasted picks. Im talking about the players on the roster right now. You don't become a consistent winning organization by signing bum free agents. Or free agents with mental issues. You become a consistent winning organization by building in the draft. By drafting "football players" instead bums like Grant Irons (muscles) and fast people (Phillip Buchanon, Fabian Washington, etc).

But what the hell do I know. Im just a young black man in America thats trying to have money like Bill Cosby. Sh*t.

Hard to develop with a coaching turn-stile. Sometimes I scare myself when I try to figure out how far behind we are from teams like the Pats and Colts in terms of systems. Sports are funny, when you hit the bottom, it's just like being an expansion team again. Everything is wiped. We have zero connection today in which we can get anything from our great years. Completely gone.

Then you get a new coach and then they want their own players, ego.

There is no excuse for popping a team mate in the grill, but this is the NFL not powder puff. Tempers flare and fights break out all the time during trainging camp. Steve Smith has always played with a chip on his shoulder and brings attitude to his game. If we had more players who played with the same fire and brought some serious tude to to the table, maybe we'd win more than 5 damn games in a season.

Smith isn't going anywhere. He's arguably one of the top 3 receivers in the game and he's a favorite of the Panthers owner. As far as I know, he doesn't have any off field issues but is a pretty vocal character on and off the field. He probably has some anger issues but I'll take his production any day. That's a guy that can back his talk.

Pretty much my thoughts as I live here in NC as well. There are a lot of fans here that are fed up with what he has done. I haven't been able to stand this guy for a few years. Every year we here about Steve Smith and his issues with teammates (last year it was Dwayne Jarrett).
