Well... I'm not sure everybody thought Lamont was all that...

Sapp reminded me that, “after three games last season, LaMont Jordan led the NFL in rushing. But LaMont is like the worst offseason running back I’ve ever been around; he was out of shape and couldn’t keep it going.

His offseason conditioning had nothing to do what he was like in the locker room, during the season etc.

Ask anyone who covers the team. He may not have had the best work ethic, or any during the off-season, but during it, he wasnt the malcontent people want to think, or attribute to him because they dislike him, and or didnt like what he did here in terms of lack of production.

Just keep it real...

You can bash, but know what you are saying too.

Oh -- and Sapp's conditioning during the off-season throughout his career wasnt the best for many of his years...so, take that for what is worth (and yes, I know, Sap is a HOF, yada, yada, yada...but still, it is what it is).

Oh, another thing, for Kiffin to believe in him, start him, and go with him last season to start, after all this 'no scholarship' crap, what does that say? Exactly.

So what is it? Are we praising Kiffin for no scholarships, or just ignoring what actualy occurred?

Regardless he is gone, finally, deservingly, as it was the best for ALL involved.

Hmmm... his old coach wasn't entirely complementary...

Quote:
Jordan got a phone call last week from his old running back coach at the University of Maryland, Mike Locksley, now offensive coordinator at Illinois.

"The only person, besides my coach here, Jimmy Raye, who can criticize my game that I will listen to," Jordan insisted.

Locksley didn't like the way Jordan complained about not getting enough carries against the Jets. Didn't like the way Jordan danced around instead of bolting through the hole when he did carry. Didn't like the way Jordan blocked to protect the quarterback.

"He kind of ripped me a new one," Jordan conceded.

^ You do realize that while in NY, he was applauded by many by how he outwardly critiqued, and deservingly, what occurred in many games. His accountability, for himself, teammates etc., was always in the forefront. And Herm and many others didnt liek it, but it was the truth. And Curtis Martin, who may have been one of the classiest gentlemen to EVER play in the NFL, had nothign but nice things to say about Jordan.

I love how things, comments, situations etc., can be shaped into what you want to believe or want to make it sound like.

Heck, when Jordan bit towels on the sidelines, fans got mad 'cause he showed emotion about stuff. If he didnt do that, people would say he didnt care. he did it, and people ripped for being an idiot. Its a double edge sword. Ask the man who runs this site and is on the sidelines a lot about Jordan and hsi attitude...

Oh, also, this is the same fan base that applauded Jerry Porter and all his 'emotions' when he was here and his nut sack was being swung on, but were quick to bash him for many of the same things later on in his career.

Excellent writeup, Vic..

I dont doubt he wasn't a bad apple on this team. He seemed like a pretty genuine guy and all smiles, although he did bawk a little bit when he tried to get back into the starting rotation after his back injury, only to be stuck behind Fargas. I thought he was a good as advertised when not hurt, personally..

I was more inquiring about you saying that there are other "bad apples" carrying over from the previous years.. This team seems incredibly young to me and Im curious to know who you and others close to the organization viewed as potential thorns or "malcontents.."

Might be the case... I'm just posting a couple quotes from other people who were actually in the locker room and field with him and seem to have presented a slightly different view.

That's not bashing him, as you claim.

I don't claim to know him personally. I do claim to have watched games where I personally didn't feel he gave his all. That's just my opinion. Not bashing, just stating an opinion.

I wish him luck. Sorry I said anything. It's a crappy day to voice your opinion on this friggen board.

I'm going to go hang with Donkey fans.

Sheesh.

He is limited as a rusher now, and he may never be fully healthy with the lingering issues he has with his back etc.

Lets just say, lets not act like we have a roster full of saints and that all is purged from those horrible teams. Heck, we are STILL in the 19-61 mess. Some talk like that happened 10 years ago, and that all will be forgotten.

Its the same stuff eveyr year. "Oh, we've turned the corner..."

really?

Look, for the first time in years, I think we may win more than 5 games. Heck, I can see 7-9 realistically. But I can also see 5 wins and guys like Sands , Warren being lazy slugs who can give up easily, Hall get his jock strap all twisted if losing becomes too much, and so forth...

I never stated your opinions werent valid. I just would liek to see real talk...

And you interpreting from your TV home him 'trying hard', or when people have 'heart meters' by their remote control and they can gauge who is playing hard, sometimes kills me...

No disrespect...

Im just telling you what I KNOW. And what people have reported to me for a while. And what they have observed first hand and so forth. Heck, whenever I've been in the locker, around Lamont, around teammates of his that have talked about him and whwnever i get info regarding his situation, I never hear quite the disdain that fans spew and the ideas they have of that guy.

Sorry, but what exactly is real talk?

Is the opinion of a fan not real talk?

Is a quote from a fellow player not real talk?

Is a quote from a former coach talking about (then) current play, with a bit of an admission by the player in question himself not real talk?

I don't know...
