I continue to read with amazement in just 12 short months of how we are ready to hang everything on Rob Ryan. The year prior we wanted him to be head coach. If everybody keeps reading what the media is fed we will be turning our backs on OUR TEAM.

Some Facts:

2004 Raiders were 6th in defense in stopping the run on per attempt at 3.7yds per attempt. So I think he has an idea.

2006 Raiders Defense were 11th ind defense in stopping the run on per attempt at 4.0 ysds per attempt.

about 8 hours ago Good post. I can see some are still swilling around in their collective throats about the defense and in particular the DT position. The bases of that concern probably comes from last years performance. The bottom line is wins! We lost 7 games last year that had NOTHING to do with the defense.

Detroit L-21-36, Note we did not score in the first half. Three turnovers by us (offense) late led to 17 points for Det. 5 Turnovers total!

At Denver L- 20-23 TIME OUT by the rat! We only scored three points in the first half.

Kansas City L 10-12 AGAIN we are shut out in the first half!!!!!!!!!

At Tennessee L 9-13, we were Shut out in the second half.

Texans L- 17-24, AGAIN, AGAIN we are shut out in the first half.

Bears L- 6-17, Just two field goals by Sea Bass?

Colts L 14-21, Inept offense and turnovers hurt our chances.

With any kind of offense we win all the above games. But even if we win only 4 that would have left us at 8-8 With the improvements this year on offense and the easier schedule I agree we can be 9-7. So I think the post is smart, smart, smart,!!!!

Indy was dead last in 2006 vs. the run

Bottom Line you can blame who you want for the losses. But until we manage games better become more consistent in Special Teams, and actually score some points, it doesnt matter who is the Defensive Coordinator is.

It's the team's fault. The defense didn't hold onto several leads that the offense had gotten for them, and the offense didn't put up points in a lot of games. Hell, even Jano missed a few field goals that were game changers.

O and btw Indy was tops in the league in points allowed. I'll take their defense any day. I just don't think it would fit us best right now when our corners are our strength and our fron7 is weak.

OUr defense was good enough last year to win more games than 4, I'll give you that. The Colts had a SB run (and won it) with the leagues worst run defense, so you really cant hang it all on the D. But the Colts brought steady pressure, somethng we've had a lot of trouble creating consistently, when we need to.

IT is all about the team as a collective. A ST blunder here, a flat drive there, a 30 yard run here, and the game's out of reach, despite playing competitively. I have a feeling that a second year with the same coaching staff will help create an evironment of consistency..

The defense has no fault in 7 of the losses? The defense gave up leads in almost every loss. If it is not Rob Ryan's fault and his players who's fault is it?

My point was it is the team collectively! Not just the Defense. I apologize that I didnt make my point clear. Maybe it is time for Ryan to go, but looking at the entire picture there is work to be done everywhere!

So I apologize to Lane and his wife and mom! Lane Lovers across the Nation! You are right the defense sucks we need to start over!!!!!

I am a Raider fan and I supported him last year and will again this year!

It is simple. We stop the run we win.... We have not been able to do that on a regular basis in a long time.
