LAS VEGAS -- An arrest was made in the beating and robbery of NFL player Javon Walker, and new details have come out as to just what happened leading up to the attack.

The timeline is falling into place. While some of the specific details are still a mystery, one man is under arrest, and police are still searching for another.

The suspect in custody is Las Vegas resident Arfat Fadel, 30. Police said he has a criminal record in four states and is now facing felonies including kidnapping, robbery and battery.

“The suspects knew who Mr. Walker was, but he did not know who they were,” said Lt. Clint Nichols of Metro’s robbery section.
Police said Fadel and another unknown man followed Walker on a tour of Las Vegas nightclubs beginning at 9 p.m. until the alleged attack in the early-morning hours of June 16.

Walker entered Fadel's black Range Rover voluntarily, police said.

“As he will readily admit, he probably had a little too much to drink, and he did not pick up on the clues that Mr. Fadel was someone he probably should not have been with. So, yes, it is confirmed that he willingly got into the vehicle on his own,” Nichols said.

Walker was seen spraying $15,000 in champagne on the crowd at Body English at the Hard Rock casino, while flashing cash and expensive jewelry.

He told police the men took $3,000 and an estimated $100,000 in jewelry.

The Web site dirty.com quoted Walker as saying he was attacked in his hotel room at the Bellagio, but police said that's not true.

“We have looked at that story. That story is unfounded. That's not the information we got from Mr. Walker, and that's not what the surveillance we've been viewing tells us what happened,” Nichols said.

Walker has left Las Vegas and is recovering while preparing for training camp with the Oakland Raiders.

None of the cash or jewelry has been recovered.

Police are looking for more information about the second man.

Thanks Ran. It was a bad judgement from Javon but we shouldn't be focusing on that. We should be focusing on the fact that JSavon is getting better and he's going to teatr it up this season. What has happened has happened, we can't change the past, but we can change the future.

I'm just trying to think if I've ever been so drunk that I would have entered into a strange man's car. And I also wonder what they told Walker to get him to go with them. 'Hey, little boy want some candy?' I'm just saying, he's lucky they didn't kill him and leave him in the desert for the vultures to feed off of. Seriously...

I dont go anywhere with people I dont know, and Im a normal person! If he could be punished for being an idiot in a no moron zone...Id give him the max penalty.

Other than that, he was still a victim of a crime.

This is the part I found interesting. All the hoopla about Javon being abducted from his room and clearly this was BS made up by some freakin' internet hack site called TheDirty.com. I was afraid that if this was true and he lied to the police he would be charged with something. Clearly this was not the case and he was only guilty of being over intoxicated and using bad judgement. Why did he get in the car with Al-Qaeda Arfat? We may never know. He was being stalked by these hoodlems. That is why he was beaten and robbed.

He was extremely fortunate that he was not left for dead in the desert. This is the main reason I drive or take cabs for the most part. Not like I have $100G's worth of jewelery to get robbed of or anything but I have been around the streets long enough to have the street radar go off when people are not right most times.

I noticed this earlier as well. Seems like the dirty.com is definetly a bullsh1t gossip rag.

I suspect as with other aspects of the story some explanation will come out given time. Did he think they were okay? Was he of the impression they were his "hired guards" or a relief crew? Did he think he was getting in a cab?

I don't know. Maybe he just met them for a brief period and thought they were okay. Some people are trusting. In some parts of the country people still leave their homes totally unlocked when heading out for hours or days. I personally know people like this.

Was he naive? Sounds that way. Bad judgment? Well, I guess that depends on some undisclosed facts and some personal perspective.

In just happy he wasn't seemingly involved in something more sinister, and that at least physically he promises to recover.
