It's only Minicamp. If this was training camp? I would be worried.
Now, we haven't heard of the Defense f*cking up, and I'm happy. Remember? That's the weak link right? On the topic of receivers... Well, I say lets get Robinson. Even if we have promising rookies, we want to win now right? Rookies can keep developing, as Robinson gives us a receiver now. That being said, Bill williamson, the espn reporter who wrote the article? He spent i think about Five years covering the Broncos. So, he's a Donkey guy. He's still a reporter, but he might lean against the Raiders after all those years of Bronco Reporting. Jamarcus is a rookie, so him doing good in drills..shows his mechanics are fine. THATS the hard part. Him ****ing up in regular practice is fine. He's still adjusting to the game speed. It happens. As long as we don't hear him throwing pointless interceptions he's fine. As long as he is technically sound, which is what Kiffin wants, we will be fine. Playing weight, will ALWAYS be a topic with him. Even when he's 35 it will be. Media loves to jump on topics. If Kiffin, and Knapp are fine with his weight, and he is? I'm fine with it. |

We didn't sign Javon Walker to look good in shells during mini camp.

Wow Russell misfired a couples passes... let him shake the ****ing off season rust off, christ...
Id rather look bad now and look stellar in the season then vice versa... Because thats always how it seems to workout... |

I heard other report's that Russell and Walker looked like they were developing good chemistry. So who do you believe. Personally all of it doesn't really add up to much untill they put some pad's on and knock heads with other players.

I suspect Russell will never "look in playing shape" to many people, but he will get it done.

I guess the press expects J-Russ to slim down to like 180 pounds or something? Either that or they just got the idea that he's out of shape stuck in their heads and refuse to really look at the guy to see what's really going on with him.

Not real happy that Walker is still not 100%, but I'd rather have him practice easy until he is. I don't care that he looks slow, just don't re-injure that knee. I'll worry about it more in a couple months when August rolls around. But no sweat for now. When he recovers all the way he will be fine.

A few tidbits from the first day of the Raiders' minicamp: Rookie tailback Darren McFadden was used in several formations, including as a receiver. He caught a long pass from quarterback JaMarcus Russell at one point. McFadden looks like the real deal. He is fast and appears to be a playmaker. Russell looked shaky at times. He had some deflected passes and still looks out of playing shape. No. 1 receiver Javon Walker had difficulty getting separation at times. At the previous camp, Raiders coach Lane Kiffin said Walker, who signed a $55 million deal despite having bad knees, still has a long way to go in his conditioning. Drew Carter was working as the other starting receiver with Ronald Curry out until training camp with a foot problem. Carter, a free agent from Carolina, made a few nice catches during the early session. Andrew Walter was working as the No. 2 quarterback and Marques Tuiasosopo was getting some reps as the No. 3 quarterback. Tuiasosopo was a long-time Oakland backup who played for the Jets last year. He'll compete with Walter to be Russell's backup. Coach Lane Kiffin lauded the play of new safety Gibril Wilson after the morning session. Kiffin suggested that Wilson was playing with more vigor than the former Giants safety did in previous camps. And we leave with the best quote of the day. Oakland defensive end Derrick Burgess was asked about the new haircut of Oakland defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, who recently shed his wild, long mane for a much shorter 'do for charity. "He looks like a C0ckatoo," Burgess deadpanned.
