Question Is the "wild hog" formation a viable option?

Its a version of the single wind that Arkansas used to some success where McFadden took snaps as QB. They only used a few plays from it. A sweep, counter, reverse, or flanker sweep, and a couple different pass plays, mostly play action off the reverse. I believe its based on zone blocking concepts.

I've seen multiple reports that DMC took snaps from shotgun at the rookie camp. Do you think that we could use a version of the wild hog? And can it be successful in the nfl? I think teams would stack the box and play man outside to test McFaddens arm (hasn't thrown on nfl db's before).
I think if he can make a throw or two it could be a productive set in the redzone because d's would loosen up.
I'm skeptical of it also because DMC fumbled the snap a few times in college as well.
And when is the last time you've seen an NFL team use a single wing, that's just rediculous! Rediculously exciting if it works.
I wounder what knapp and kiff are cookin up.

We certainly can use it and I think we will but I don't call it the "Wild Hog" now I call it

The "WILD RAIDER" Formation haha

That formation is what Mcfadden is known for and I seen them practicing it on the news just now and Mcfadden also dropped a pass but he isn't perfect LOL

Michael Bush also tripped over a tackling dummy seriously LOL but they both looked good for players practicing in shorts

"Wild Raider" I like that.
You should get that trademarked. Or at least take credit for it that's what they actually call it.

McFadden's fast alright, and yes, they might line him up at QB on occasion, but I'm not sure how well it would work in Pro ball.

These defenders are so fast, they may be able to take the angles and close it off.

Never know though...

DMC's not the only one with an arm, Bush can throw too...

Any way the coaches can come up with to put the ball in McFadden's hands to create mismatches so he can showcase his speed and play-making ability would be fine by me.

The Panthers did it about two years ago with DeAngelo Williams and it worked well. They did that cause Chris Weinke or whatever his name is had to play

Anything is worth a look at in camp. The Raiders aren't really known for trick plays so I don't think it'll happen in a regular season game.

What are the rules on quarterbacks? Would we have to designate #20 as the emergency quarterback to run plays designed plays from that formation.

The Jets tried something like that with Brad Smith agaisnt the Pats last year. It worked the first time, but they tried it again the next play and that Pats shut it down...

So I think it would be a good idea from time to time.

That's something you can use once or twice in the NFL, but it is a gadget play and pro teams will figure it out.
