they really didnt run outside with him at AU they mostly ran up the middle in that formation with him, watch the LSU game where he gets 380 yards and tears up the cheifs first rounder glenn dorsey up the middle

We used to run the HB option often enough with Marcus Allen that it got the opponents off balance. As long as they even THINK you may be running it they have to respect it and hesitate. That slight hesitation is all you need sometimes and it's points.

There is a huge difference in the defenses in the last 20 years. They are much faster. I am not saying it won't be used but the good defenses will not be fooled once it is used a couple times.

Ah, i would have to say NO. That's like asking if the "option" is a viable play in the NFL. There are just things in the college game that just don't tranlate to the NFL, however i DO see DMAC being a dual threat just like LT and how he can throw the ball out of the backfield w/ adequate accuracy.
