There is absolutely no excusable reason for the Raiders to screw up getting McFadden signed on time. The contract numbers are so clearly slated based on last year's numbers and the draft number.
The #4 pick will get slightly more than last year's #4 pick (Gaines Adams). The 2008 #4 pick will get slightly less than the #3 pick (Ryan) and slightly more than the #5 pick (Dorsey). The range will be as clear as day. For a contract to not get done will be totally unacceptable and negligent. I am confident that there will no problem getting McFadden signed on time and ready to roll.

I believe that DMC is asking for less than what JR got last year. Seems reasonable.
RB Darren McFadden will command a six-year contract worth at least $50 million with no less than $20 million in guarantees

Al was tossing around massive contracts like it's nothing this offseason. He knows McFadden can come in right away and contribute, he wants to win NOW, I don't see any reason why we should have a holdout on our hands.
