Walter isn't a sufficient backup. He's a number 3, at best.

Yeah that to me was the most disappointing thing about Walter's game, coming out of college he was supposed to have this laser rocket arm. His arm strength is pretty average if you ask me.

Yeah thanks for the highlight reel, that was a real romp down memory lane! I am sure AW is a fine back up, I would still like a vet though.

Man I haven't seen anything as depressing as that highlight reel since the Elephant Man. I still think AWAL still has a chance to play in this league, it just won't be with the Raiders. Fortunately we jettisoned that Shell/Walsh fiasco after one season, otherwise we'd probably have another David Carr on our hands.
I'm not adverse to bringing Dante back but I think Trent Dilfer would prolly be a better mentor to JRuss even though he's not the best QB out there. I'm just thinking in terms of the kid's long term development. Besides, Dilfer's a pretty vocal guy in the locker room.

He is good enough to back up the backup QB.

I think Walter can be the 2nd string QB, but I still think we should go for a vet to mentor Jamarcus. But Walter needs a good O-Line for him to be successful because he isn't one to scramble around.

I would have liked to see him get a chance but thats the past. Russell needs a good back up and last year showed that at least every team in the NFL had a QB change at some point. I still wonder if they are going to bring back Pep cause no team has taken him from what I read. Him and Walter would be great to have behind Russell for sure. I will say I think Walter might be better on another team where he can play I dont think he fits here anymore and I think he will be great for someone else.

I think he can be much worse. Walter is a project that hasn't even proven he can play in this league. McCown and Pep are career backups at this point. Both Walter and Pep turn the ball over way too much. Walter was pathetic when he came in last year against green bay. Cpep fumbles the ball too much, even from the snap. Maybe you guys need to go back and watch the games of these 2.

Besides maybe Gruden's team and his 18 qb's, how many 3rd string qb's can you name? I'd say Walter is a good fit there lol

give Andrew some action where he can at least get 5 seconds in the pockets and he can deliver i know he can.
people base him off that 06 season. And yes, i have done in the past before as well. But that is becuase that is the only action he has really seen. And that isnt fair.
So i think he should be our backup. O think he can be a really good backup too.

Culpepper has been my first choice to resign as Russell's backup, but if one of those qb's from Tampa Bay is released, I would wait until then to sign a veteran backup qb.
If Walter is the backup this year, he won't have any excuses anymore, we have some respectable WR's and TE's, not to mention the backfield with Fargas, McFadden, & Bush.

definitely can't hold 06 against him and with an actual OC that knows what he's doing, he's gotta be some things right or his ass would have been gone already
