freddy b. was a great wide reciever coach. i dont recall the "call out" but if he did it was probably said to end all the lofton talk of him being a davis hire and kiffin not wanting him. i aint reading much into it. cuz talk is just that talk.
The comment about WR coach was a bit cruel. Freddy is a Raider god, but I think he stopped relating to the kids. When Tim and Jerry were here, he must have been in coach heaven. Then, he "called out" Porter and became more of a problem than an asset. Hey, he deserves a break and all the glory his long career has earned him.

Now, I think we'll see a lot less WR talent wasted. Lofton seems to be able to teach the mere mortals of the world (not named Rice and Brown) how to get open. Judging how Freddie layed into Porter, I suspect Lofton will bring a little more fun into the game, and it's gotta be somewhat pleasureable to catch a pass from JRuss.

What?

You complain about the OL giving sacks, and I show it was due to a gimpy QB and a QB with no pre-season and few reps, and then you say it doesn't matter and that it's not poor QB play?

How can you ignore the facts? McCown, who had coverage sacks, had LESS sacks than the gimpy QB and the Rook QB. It IS QB dependant!!!!!

Jeff Georg could have had the best line in the world and he would have had more sacks than Gannon. It IS QB dependant!!!!!

Come on! Our line is ok in pass protection, and we've improved at C, we added a HB who rules, as raiderjohn622 said, "a draw to DMac can be a TD on any play".

Quit the naysaying and admit we're gonna get 2x the wins of last year.

good point. You can try to break down whos fault the sacks were all day but anyone who watched the games knows the pass protection was weak.I hope we do better but i dont see any great additions to the T position.Looks like we will have a new C and possibly 2 new Tackles. It will take some time to gel,it always does, plus throw in a rookie QB.I think the team will improve as the season goes on but im not expecting miracles right away

i got something to add to what hitman was saying to you about the oline and sacks...just think about the great QB in the league now they all have time to throw the ball. doesnt matter how long the QB holds on to the ball the oline has to protect....QBs like manning and brady have all day to complete passes .....all freaking day. no bullshiet....all day.

thats one of the many reasons why they are great QB's. our QBs didnt have the luxury of time to check down to the second or third reciever. when few and i mean few times theline held up the QBs were able complete the pass.

we have lofton now and i hope he pans out but i aint going to use him as a reason why the season will turn out one way or another.

You know this idea Lofton will make the team better is a bit off base, Fred Biletnikoff being on the staff the Raiders were still a bad team the previous 4 seasons...

i think ryan and cable and kiffin will be the coaches that have the biggest impact simply cuz ryan and kiffin run the o and d of the team and cable has horrible talent that he needs to whip into shape.

Sacks are given up by the offensive line, period, it doesn't matter if your QB is a total waste... a perfect example is Walter the year before last... he had no time to throw, his QB rating was horrid, was it his fault the sacks came? no, the offensive line is the key factor in sack totals. Arron Brooks was a mobile guy and he was dumped on his backside just as frequently. Without protection even great QB's look mediocre. QB ratings are based off of pass attempts, completions and interceptions not sacks taken...

And you cannot expect Russell to have great success if his protection is ok... it has to be solid otherwise he'll be running for his life...
