Question for all you long time Raider fans........

I was just thinking about this, especially all you Bay Area people. How did you guys feel when the Raiders moved to Los Angeles? What was your emotion? Did you support them any less?

Raiders moved here a few years after I was born so I basically grew up with the Raiders here in LA. By the time they moved back to Oakland, it was too late already. I had already "fallen in love" with this team and I probably support them now more than ever. Though, I wouldn't mind them coming back here of course

I'm a huge LA sports fan, but I don't think I can ever see myself being a fan of another team if we ever get one. Maybe if its an expansion team, I would follow them casually though.

I was a heartbroken eight year old when the Raiders moved... I followed the whiners for a bit, but I came home before the Raiders did...

The Niners just weren't my cup of tea...

I was bummed, but I was still a huge LA Raider fan. My grade school years were the 80's, and I was always representing the Raiders! I'm on the Niner side of the Bay and it was tough being a Raider fan at that time because of the Niners success. I remember going to Niner games with my Raider Starter Jacket on, and there was all kinds of Raider fans!

But, I also know a lot of the older generation fans were pissed and still have never forgiven Al Davis for moving the team.

Even though I'm in New York, it didn't impact me at first since (obviously) I don't live in the Bay Area and they were still winning. I was also 11 years old at the time. As I got to know more about the whole game of football, I realized that it was a mistake. Los Angeles Raiders didn't flow off the tongue like Oakland Raiders.

How big of a deal was the move? Well, looking back at how hugely successfull the team was in Oakland, Howie Long was known as "The Last of the Oakland Raiders. Can't remember if Issac Bruce or someone was known as The Last of the Los Angeles Rams, and they'd been around much longer with some great teams.

Biggest mistake Al Davis ever did, IMO.

I remember my best friends Dad, ( they were born and raised in Oakland) was pissed and declared himself a free agent fan for the niners. But he always tuned in for the Raiders games. And always mumbled comments while we watched. At that time I was sixteen and had became a football/Raider fan shortly after moving to Lake County, Ca in '78. Having been born in Venice, Ca. I was already a huge Dodgers and Lakers fan (now I hardly watch them). So when the Raiders moved south, I considered the trifecta complete.

But after moving to the Ca./Ore stateline in '87, the Raiders were not part of that regions televised games. The (AFC West) Seahawks and the Niners were the only games shown there. I listened to the Raiders games via the radio. I moved back to Lake County 1 year after the Raiders moved back to Oakland.

My buddy, myself and another friend were going to attend our first Raiders game in '97 to see the opening home game vs the Chiefs, but he was killed just prior to the start of the season. I finally did get to see them live in '01 vs the Chargers (think Flutie flakes) after moving to Nevada in '98.

Sorry for the ramble.....jeezus, I sound like my Grandmother talking about her day at the grocery store. And yet I'm still going to hit submit....it's what Grandma would do

It's not about the Raiders to me, its about Oakland. If the Raiders move **** em. But now that I'm in central Cali there is no "local" team so i could root for either LA or Oakland but when i lived in the bay it was different. To me its not about cool colors or mavrick owners or skulls, its about representing your city and having pride in it. For an owner to move the team is a slap in the face to the people who take pride in thier city. I never got over it. no. still resent the guy for getting greedy.

I gotta say I agree with you about being all for the city. That is why I became a Raider fan when they were here in LA. Thats the first team I knew about when I figured out what football is. I was already a Dodger fan and then I picked up the Lakers in their Sedale Threat, Pig Miller days. But like I said, when they moved back to Oakland it was too late for me. No turning back. I was already hooked and had even shed tears for this team as a little kid (bills vs raiders, afc championship flashback............ahhhhh!!!!)

I'm in Wasco north of Bakersfield but I was in Sac during that 2000-2002 kings era. I gotta say for that time line it was fun being apart of that atmosphere. Sacramento is alot like Oakland in the 60-70's cause they were hungry for respect. Oakland was in the shadow of sanfran and got some respect thanks to the Raiders. Sac kinda had the same thing going on. all people thought about was cow ****. I remember when Chris Webber first flew to Sacramento to play there he said he saw all the fields from the plane and started to cry. Thats how people thought of Sacramento so you can see how they really wanted that respect.

I was born an LA Raider fan, so I could relate to the Oakland people complaining, but they need to get over it. The boys came back. Your dream girl left you for some dude with bigger pecs and a thicker weiner, but she came back because you liked the same movies and you have job security. I think LA fans get looked over, but we're some of the most hardcore fans, cause we travel all over the ****en place to see our team play, we feel betrayed, and we have to put up with packer fans, niner fans, charger fans, giant fans, steeler fans, cowboy fans, etc.... and without hesitation, we still cheer on the Raiders. Even when our team continues to try and get out of quicksand by dunking our heads.

completely agree, and I will still rep the kings, they are my team. Not going to stop rooting for them because they are a **** team as said before. What can I say, when i got into basketball, thats where I lived, so who else was I going to root for? the ****in lakers like a lot of people from sac did, just because they were also good and had won championships? **** that.
