There was a different mystique with the LA fans, I was glad they moved back to Oakland, it is a tougher city, and it just fits.
That being said, I would only be ok with a move to Fresno. |

As long as they keep it between LA and Oakland, that wouldnt bother me. Now if they moved out of state, that would be really tough and weird

Mom and Dad were still practicing the rhythm method as birth control in '65. I showed up the following year to let 'em know it didn't work this time. |

There was no mystique in Los Angles, that mystique ceased to exist once they left Oakland...

He said to me many times through the years that owners are often the problem with their franchises, that too many of them think they can run things when they cannot, and the teams that succeed are the ones where the owner hires the best people he can and turns the game over to them." |

It was never a big deal to me...the Raiders where always on TV and my shirts and hats just said Raiders never the LA Raiders. Come to think of it the only things I have that say Oakland RaidersI are some of the shirts I buy in the parking lot tailgating. I'AM RaiderFAN. I see it this way, if I moved to Texas or Florida would I still be a RaiderFAN? Yes, so if the Raiders move why shouldn't I still be a RaiderFAN. Cause Davis hurt my feelings? Yeah right! Especially now w/ the internet and NFL package. The only thing I would miss is tailgating...that is something that can not be duplicated.

I will say one thing though, the RAIDER home games were NEVER televised! I had to listen to them on my little RAIDER radio. When they moved back to Oakland I was stoked because I got to watch them every week on the tube...

I grew up in Bakersfield, and had the opportunity to be introduced to football while Bo Jackson was running for the Raiders. I only really knew them as L.A. so I learned to love them then. I love the Raiders, not the city they are in.

Living in LA at the time I was ecstatic. I felt like I won the lottery, when my favorite team up and moved to my town. Just like most Bay Area Raider fans cant take the niners , I loathed the Rams and my hatred of them and all of my buddies being Ram fans made me root for the bad boy Raiders probably more than anything besides Ken Stabler and Dave Casper.
Never missed a single game in LA. Never seen them in Oakland and now living in the upper midwest surrounded by the Chiefs Donks and Viking fans I take boat loads of heat/hate from lots of people for it but no matter where they play I would be a fan. Can honestly say that now after all this time away from them in hostile lands. |

I'm 35 years old now, but when the Raiders left for LA in the early 80's, I was absolutely heartbroken and crushed. I cried like a little baby. My beloved Raiders were no longer in my backyard. When you have something that you love and care about so much just yanked away from you, it's tough to recover. It was the ultimate punch in the gut. It was a major blow to Oakland and its surrounding East Bay communities. I learned to cope with the move to LA eventually, and supported them with the same love and passion as I still do today. Extremely greatful that they are home (in Oakland) again though, and are negotiating a long-term lease extension to remain in Oaktown long after 2010.
The original move to LA was all over the addition of luxury box suites in the Coliseum. There WERE NO problems with lack of sellouts or fan support (especially during the 70's and very early 80's). Al Davis saw the future, and there was going to be A LOT of $$$ to be made with the addition of new luxury box suites. The city of Oakland and Alameda County Coliseum Commision balked at Davis' overtures, which eventually led him to move the team to LA. They then agreed to Davis' request, but it was too late. He had already commited to LA. And we all know how that run ended too. |

The Raiders moving from Oakland to L.A. and then back to Oakland holds so many crazy, distinct memories for me that I will never forget.....I know that my Mom and Dad went to games in Oakland before I was born and growing up everything was about the Raiders in our house, then Al Davis moved the team and it broke my Dad's heart and turned him into a Niner Fan
, my Mom stayed true to the Raiders, I would go to my Dad's house for weekend visits and watch Niner games with him in the living room, surronded by all of this Niner Red and Gold while my Mom's house was Raider everything.....then my whole life flipped upside down when my Dad passed away 1/31/1983, and the next year the L.A. Raiders won the Super Bowl ......I also remember my Uncle, he was a die hard Raider Fan, he stayed true through the move to L.A., he passed away two years ago....when my Mom and I were going through his Raider things we found a lot of things that said L.A. Raiders and my Uncle had taken a marker and blacked out the L.A. parts. I remember when the team was coming back to Oakland and I found those cool ass bumper stickers that read "WE'RE BACK.....L.A. SUCKED" and my Mom slapped one on the back of her RX7. One of my best memories was bringing my little cousin to his first Raider game and how juiced he was, even at the age of 6, and half way through the first quarter he looks over and says to me, "When I grow up, I'm playing for the Raiders"......and how over these last two years, everywhere he goes, if he sees another teams logo on someones car or them wearing another teams gear, he starts the RAIIIIIIIIDDDDDDEERRRRSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!! chant, over and over and over. The day I knew his Raider Fanhood was set in stone and that he would carry on the family tradition was 3 months ago, I picked him up from school and he had on his Randy Moss Black Home Jersey and I told him, "Well, I'm glad your representing today", and he says to me, "I know, but I told my Mom she has to buy me a new jersey because Randy Moss doesn't even play for the Raiders anymore, he plays for the Patriots and they suck!!!!!".

I live in Virginia and have been a loyal raiders fan since 67. I know the best team ever was the 83 raiders when they played in L A. The raiders belong in Oakland and I was so happy when they went back. If you ever heard Howard Cossell say Oakland Alameda County Colliseium you would know there is no other place but, Oakland.
