So much potential...

We have sooo much potential this year, from the offseason acquisitions to the draft, that I don't see why we can't have a winning season this year. It all starts in the locker room, though. We need a leader on this team, and Jamarcus has to step up. He needs to lead this team in the locker room and on the field. As far as the coaches, they need to learn how to utilize all the talent on this team. That's been our problem. So much talent on paper but no production on the field. C'mon Raiders, the time is now, just win baby!

Every team has potential. I want to see us win but there are no guarantees. We have been a mess for 5 years and hopefully Kiffin and co. can turn it around and just make some progress. 7 wins would be a major improvement in my eyes.

We may have some very talented skill players, but do not forget that this game is Won and Lost in the trenches! The Raiders are still weak in those areas and even though I want to see an 8-8 season or better, I am not going to bank on it. This team needs to improve along the O line and the D line before they are going to be contenders. Kwame, Gallery, Wade, Carlisle, Green or McQ is not a solid starting 5.
Burgess, Kelly, Warren/Sands, Richardson/Edwards is far from a great starting 4 for the D.
The position players are in place and it seems that Al as per usual has built this team from the skill players down. They are in place, let them gain experience, learn the system. Keep the coaching staff in tact and attack the trenches hard next free agency/draft and this team will be well on the way.

I can honestly think that 7-8 wins this year are TOTALLY possible.

We have always been one of the better teams on paper/potential. That has not worked out well many years. We still have not really addressed our biggest problem, Stoping The Run. Our offense looks to have protential but unless all the WR stay healthy the O Line continues to improve we will picking in the top 10 again this year.

For some reason I think the Run D will be better. With Kelly replacing Sapp and the addition of Wilson, I think we will see some progress.

My concerns:

1. Protecting the QB
2. Putting pressure on other teams QBs.

^^we were weak in both areas last year and could be even WORSE this year.....

Potential is only worthwhile if it produces wins and I haven't seen that come to fruition with all the potential the Raiders supposedly have on paper.

correction my good young sir.....potential means capable of development into actuality....therefore unless a player is actually a player who has reaches a high level of play without many mistakes the player isn't actually capable.

people hire players with a high potential because they can blossom into a capable player.

its kinda like trying....trying isn't doing. succeeding is doing.

Potential does make us happy Raider fans in May though, and for the most part, we are all fans here so discussing potential when it is all we have, is all we can do as fans of our team.

I suppose we could sit on here and discuss everything that is wrong with the team, but it probably wouldn't lead to many hits for the site, and the continuation of a place for us all to talk. Everyone hates on the catchphrases like Commitment to Excellence, and Just Win Baby, but the expectation of success is what drives the organization and motivates us as fans to keep coming back to the team we love.
