Draft option

I have been thinking alot about what I feel the Raiders should do with their draft. Im gonna throw my ideas out there and I want to know what you folks think

FIRST - Trade the 4th pick for Dallas' 22nd pick and 28th pick.
- 22ND PICK --- option 1 DE Phillip Merling (Clemson) great size, decent speed of the edge, sure tackler, and a pretty solid run stopper as well
--- option 2 DT Kentwan Balmer (North Carolina) versatile player that has had injury problems, very disruptive up front
--- option 3 WR Marion Manningham (Michigan) stretches the field despite his 40 time at the combine, gets great seperation against man coverage, great hands, and one of the better WR in the NCAA over the past three seasons

- 28TH PICK --- option 1 - trade that pick! we could get a quality veteran with it
--- option 2 - RB Felix Jones (Arkansas) yes he was a backup, but he backed up the best running back in the nation. if he would have been on any other team he probably would have been in the heisman race too. besides that, he is more of a pure runner than mcfadden, he averaged over 7 ypc throughout his 3 years as a r'back, and has the speed to take it to the house on any play. Would be great behind fargas in that zone/gap scheme of Cable's, and he also has great hands and gets yards after the catch
--- option 3 - OT Gosder Cherilus (Boston College) 6'6", 315 lbs for starters, has a large armspan to lock up defenders, excellent size and mobility, needs work on his footwork against the a great pass rush

- 2nd round --- WR James Hardy
- 4th round --- C or ILB (surprised I haven't seen any thread about getting younger @ C
- 5th round --- OT, OG, WR
- 6th round --- OLB, OL, DE (I really want to look at Bryan Smith (McNeese St. 1-AA, Southland Conference)
- 7th round --- CB, LB, WR (aka Marques Colston's twin)

Please respond with your ideas for this topic.

I'd rather draft Sam Baker than James Hardy. And if Deshaun Jackson slips to us in the second round (by some miracle), then we ought to take him.

yea.....didn't think about that. Even though, I still think they should trade it if they can't get Chris Long though.

Coming from a fan standpoint you think it takes a whole lot more to move up than it really does. Don't try and pull out the "draft chart" because that is not an unofficial measuring device for GMs (I dont htink they use it). Those two first rounders and next years first or the two first rounders and a 3rd would be enough IMO. But Dallas will probably wait it out because if Al doesnt draft DMC (which I dont think he will), he may fall out of the top 10. The Jets look like they may go for Ghoulston with Vilma headed to the Saints, the next team that might draft him in the top 10 is the Bengals but everyone knows they need serious defensive help. DMC is liklier to fall to #13-15 than most people realize. I have a gut feeling McFadden will be a Cowboy but they wont be trading all the way up #4 to get him.

Please respond with your ideas for this topic.

you got the 5th rounder from the Boys right? cause as of right now we dont have a 5th....

trading back for the cowboys picks probably means we miss out on the top3 Ts but i could live with Ghosder with the 22nd i guess.

and since i dont see Hardy dropping to the 2nd we would take him with the 28th and thats why this trade would be dope IMO....

follow it up with Dre Moore with the 2nd....

Jeremy Thompson/Jason Jones (big, athletic DEs) with the 4th...

Jeremy Zuttah/ Cody Wallace (Center-Guard) with the 6th...

and finally Ant Aldridge (ATH) with the 7th.

thats how i would do it in case we trade down with the Boys.

If we made a trade with Dallas for our #4, we have to at least get their #22, #28, and #61 picks. I wouldn't settle for less.

I don't think the Jets pass on McFadden if he's available at #6. jmho.

we dont have a 5th round pick

why a ****ing rb in round 1 , rb db and lb are already our strongest position, why the ****ing idea to have felix jones in round 1 and keep mario hendersen and paul mcquistan at tackle to open the field to him .

if we trade for the number 22 and 28 pick , i will go with linemen at 22 philip merling is a good pick , at 28 i will pick manningham , he will be there at 28 , and at the beginning of the round 2 i will pick sam baker an Ot , a true LT.

buffalo at 11 wants desean jackson, sweed will go at tenneessee, malcolm kely probably at washington, so manningham will be there at 28.

forgot we didn't have the 5th rounder. my bad. the felix jones pick was just there for consideration. I know we don't need him, but there are some that still feel we need one. I am definetly down with merling and manningham. It attacks two major needs. Maybe instead of the boys giving us a second rounder as well, we could take Bradie James (MLB) off their hands.

Check this....

WLB Thomas Howard
MLB Bradie James
SLB Kirk Morrison

I know this one is gonna get slammed. Let's hear some thoughts.

I've been reading up on a few of these players. It'd be nice to pick up an offensive lineman like Cherilus or Baker. For some reason, I'm not real high on Manningham, but I have read a little about the WR from Michigan State, Devin Thomas, he's a possibility.

I would LOVE to see us pick up Chris Johnson with our 2nd round pick. Yes, I know running back isn't the most pressing need, but you can do anything with Johnson. Line him up in the slot, line him up out wide. He can definitely stretch a field horizontally and open up our inside running game.

I also have interest in Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. Since we're hurting a little at our other CB position, and we don't know for sure if we'll be able to lock up Nnamdi, we might have to give this guy a good long look.
