Just got a call from Raiders World Headquarters. Sometimes that happens when Al Davis doesn’t like a particular story or column, so I figured the call had something to do with the column I wrote about the ongoing tension between coach Lane Kiffin and Davis.

I was transferred by team spokesman Mike Taylor to Kiffin. Kiffin really, really wanted to clear something up.

“For whatever it’s worth, I just wanted to let you know that the part about me being out dancing was 100 percent inaccurate,” Kiffin said.

I had cited a report that someone had spotted Kiffin dancing while he was in Indianapolis. The report was on the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s combine blog (the main activities at the combine: drinking, blogging and looking at young men in underwear). Kiffin, who was very cordial and in good humor, said it simply wasn’t true.
