What will we do if....
"ESPN's Chris Mortensen suggested during a special edition of Sunday NFL Countdown that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is eyeing the possibility of swinging a trade with the Dolphins for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 draft.

Such a deal would allow the 'Boys to bag running back Darren McFadden, who played college football at Jones' alma mater of Arkansas."-PFT.com

What would we do if DAL trades up and gets D-Mac 1st and STL gets Glenn Dorsey? Since our staff coached the Senior Bowl and since Sedrick Ellis tore it up, do you guys think we should get him with the 3rd or 4th pick?

This would suck if Big D stole D-Mac from us.

I dunno....if it turns out to be false and McFadden falls to us, and we take him, great!
If it is true and Dallas jumps up ahead to take McFadden at #1, or someone else takes him ahead of us and we take Ellis......guess what? Great again! This might even be the better scenario.
This is assuming - of course - that we still have Cable coaching the o-line and we still use the ZBS. I liked that it produced a 1000 yard rusher in Fargas, and that even Rhodes and Jordan both had 100+ yard games. That tells me that the system can do alot with even modest talent.
We're still going to need a solid DE in the draft (or FA) anyhow, and I'm sure we can land one in the 2nd round or later.
But I also side with those who say we should draft McFadden if we can and he's there, for the reasons that he could really wind up a serious ground/receiving weapon AND we should take the best talent (in this case, offensive) available (for a change).

I see it as win/win given the scenario. However......since Kiffin won't have any say in the draft (assuming he's even around at all), don't be surprised if it's another draft of taking the fastest DB with our 1st round pick. Bleccccch!!

Well, i read a while back that we might have interest in Michael Turner...like many have said, FA will tell us what way we are going to go in the draft.

I actually dont think we need a DE that bad, if we can re-sign Clemons, between him and Jay Richardson we should be fine, but we do need a run stuffing DT in the middle.

It would be the best thing possible for us.
St.Louis may well seriously consider Jake Long. Their OL is aging and beaten up.

If so, whether we pick 3rd or 4th at least two of Dorsey, C.Long and Ellis will be available.
My hope is that Dallas swing the trade, St.Louis pick Jake Long, we win the coin toss and have our choice of Dorsey, C.Long or Ellis.

Any of those three will help at our weakest spot, DL and in particular stopping the run.
