Zone Blocking Created By Alexander The Great
Oakland and several other teams including Denver and Atlanta have benefitted from the ZBS first utilized by Alexander the Great in the battle of Gaugamel vs. the Persian King Darius.
Facing a Superior force that outnumbered him nearly 4 to 1 Alexander broke with tradition and rode paralell to the formed up Persians forcing them to to drift along with him and creating a gap in their defense which his cavalry exploited to drive Darius from the field and route the much larger army changing history. Many realize the correlation between football and war and this is but one example of borrowed, tried and true strategy that translated well to the game. Enjoy the week! |

Talk about a winning record. He fought more battles than any other commander in history and NEVER lost!
We sure could use some help commiting to excellence again. I like our D. Playing tons smarter now with very few penalties. Just need a run stuffer at DT and some serious safety play to start. |

Wrong war, but i'd put Achillies in the backfield. He'd probably run circles around everyone.

He gets burnt more than anyone else, and he all of a sudden is this great Pro Bowl cover corner. I never saw that in DeAngelo Hall. He would gamble and do everything unsound on the corner." - Warren Sapp on DeAngelo Fall |
