Forgive me, but I do not pretend to know every rule or everthing about football. But, what happens if the Raiders never end up working out a contract with JR? I hear he re-enters the Draft next year. Does that mean we just lose out and have no compensation? Also, I recall years ago when College Quarterbacks would sit for a few years then play. It must come down to all the money being paid now and then the necessity of the team to get some benefits immediately.

We celebrate!!! We become know as the most loved franchise in the league cause there will be a rookie max put in place and you won`t see teams with Keven Garnett Sydrome where they over pay a player and cannot sign anyone else. Also there will be a national holiday instilled in Raider Nation when Jmac goes Quinn like in next draft only to be a worst bust the Ryan Leaf.....

He is forever in my eyes tainted and does not deserve to play for this team..EVER!!! i`ll take Collins back before I take Jmac...Never wanted him....

Odds are, either Culpepper will resurge and be our pro-bowl QB, or we'll sign JR.
Losing both, imho, has a remote chance of happening.

Agreed! We are in a no win situation, If Russell does not sign and losses a ton of money so ~!@#$% what. We just wasted the #1 pick in the draft and got nothing for it.

He'll eventually sign...he'd lose probably close to if not more than 40 million if he re-enters the draft.

I agree with previous posts that he has utterly destoyed his ability to be anything other than an overpaid clipboard holder this year and he may have just undermined any chance he has of being respected as a leader on this team and/or possibly throughout the league.

I certainly hope not! I don't want him to ever wear a Raider uniform. He's an unproven, one college season wonder who got national notice when he lit up a mediocre at best Notre Dame D. He's not worth the money or the hassle. Al should start lowering the offer every week. Let him go & re-enter the draft, then we'll see how much he gets. See ya JR greedy, we don't need ya.
