Another AL thread?? Well, I'll just copy and paste what I said in another thread.

Al gave the Raiders their mystique. Al has done a lot for the NFL, much more than the other owners out there. At one time I did support Al Davis fully, and he still does what he thinks is best for the team. The problem is that more of those decisions have been wrong than right in recent years. I don't think he needs to get away from the Raiders entirely, but I do think he should pass on the decision making to somebody else and take more of a backseat role.

In the past 20 season the Raiders have had 7 winning seasons, been in the post season 6 times, been in the SB 1 time, and have finished in the bottom half of their conference 13 times. The 20 years before that the Raiders had 15 winning seasons, were in the post season 15 times, were in the SB 4 times (winning 3), and finished in the bottom half of their conference only 5 times.

I DON'T think Al Davis wanted to win when he traded Gruden to a team we would very likely have to play in the Super Bowl.

I DON'T think Al Davis wanted to win when he hired Norv Turner in '04. There were plenty of college coaches just like Kiffin available. Basically, anyone would have been better than Turner.

I'm human too. Can I be g.m. of the Raiders? I mean, if that's a sole requirement, anymore.

I think his record up until the mid '80s compared to his record since demonstrates that he is NOT the architect in every since of the word. I think he had a lot of help in his early years, and then ran that help out in the '80s, replacing those people with yes men.

That doesn't justify the past 4 years. I'm sure it hurts every CEO when they fail. They're still replaced.
I stand behind my post and no, you can't be GM of the Raiders. You don't meet the minimum necessary requirements.

Sure is easy to sit in judgment when you know none of the facts isn't it? How's that 20/20 hindsight working for you?
GRaider, none of the facts? Al left Oakland for LA, for "respect", while of course hoping to split a bigger market with a lesser Ram team. He left LA for Oakland, for "respect", after finding that no one in LA would buy his dog and pony act.

Ever notice we are playing in the same half assed stadium we were 30 years ago, except now we have Mt. Davis which makes it impossible to sell out? Do you think that works well for the team?

There is probably a board rule about what I would like to say, so I won't. I am not misinformed. YOU are full of Al's BS, and unless you are a personal friend of his, foolish.
